    Default The Catalan Company

Not sure if I should write this somewhere else but in any case...

This Idea has been roaming over my mind for some time and I wanted to hear and read about what the mod developers thought about this.

My proposition is to add as a historical event the hiring of the Catalan Company of Almugavers by the Byzantine empire in 1303.

To know more on this amazing historicall event:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_Company

This could be done by having a full stack of Almugavers set foot on Constantinople and fighting for the Byzantine empire. Then two years later(not sure how many turns, this wouldn't have to be totally historically correct either) this full stack would become Aragonese (or rebell in this case as the Aragonese faction is not included in the game) as it happened in reality.

Another possibility would be including a unit of almogavers in 1303 as a recruitable mercenary unit for the Byzantine empire.

What are your thoughts mod leaders and community? Could this be modable into the game? Thnks!

I'm not sure if a general can be scripted to turn to rebel, but I doubt individual units can be scripted to rebel after a certain number of turns.

Scripting a set of units to appear at a certain time is definitely do-able. If and when we come round to looking at the byz we can probably discuss this further.

    Cheers

They were roaming only on Thracia, Peloponessus and Morea, so my opinion is that they aren't needed, because we're focusing on the East.
Why we dig up the past? To understand it.

Very interesting piece of history, quite fascinating. Though most of this historical event seems to be on the western side of Byzantium, a side that we really don't have on our map geographically speaking.

Seems sad that it was on the west Byzantine, would of been a great feature.

Analysis should not be diverted by reflections upon the zeal with which the victors at the end of the Second World War punished the defeated for war crimes. The victors were animated by the ideals of the Atlantic Charter and of the United Nations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was about to peep over the eastern horizon. But first, they wanted a little hanging.

Well I recall reading that at first the main actions and battles against the turks happened in Anatolia, in Eastern Byzantium. Problem is in reality they just fought for a year or so in that zone, and later when their vengeance started against the Byzantine empire, they yes moved to the western side and finally stayed there where they even conquered the Duchy of Athens and Neopatria for the Crown of Aragon.

It was just a suggestion for this mod, that I must say looks Tremendous!

All I ask is that AlphaDelta redoes the skins for Almughvars. They are an incredibly cool unit and the they look like peasants with javelins in Med Vanilla

I don't think he has the time to do so. Maybe in a future update, but not for 1.0. I won't speak for him directly, but I do not think he'll have the time to do this.
