G5 mouse ...

I just started using my g5 mouse and I have to say it's good, but there's one major problem...which seems to be a common issue with the mouse: the middle click sucks. Now as an avid firefox user, this poses a serious problem as it makes opening new tabs a pain in the ass. Furthermore, in games I use middle click to reload. Is there any way to mod the mouse so that the middle click is smoother or do I have to remap its functions to the mouse4 button? (which I really don't want to do since I want to use that for voice chat)

You could open the mouse and fiddle with it.
I have the same mouse and hadn't really noticed it to be honest, but now I do and I hope you burn in hell.

Wait, I have a logitech wireless gaming mouse, with a better middle button.
My problem is solved.

Seriously, you could open your mouse up, or buy another mouse.

Can't you assign a different button to take over the function of the middle button in "Set Point"?

Yes, I can assign it for CS:S or any fps, but there's still the issue of firefox. I don't know how to change the function of opening a new tab from the middle click to the thumb click.

As for buying another mouse, this one's damn cheap compared to the Razers so yeah...may get the 7-button version though seeing as they've effectively made this one only worth 5 buttons with the useless middle click and all.

What I meant was: use the Logitech driver/software (called "Set Point", should come with the mouse or you can download it from the Logitech website) to change the key assignments of the mouse itself (for example: assign "middle mouse button" to the right mouse button, or any other button on the mouse).

Yes, do what he said, and the great thing is that you can assign different keys for different programs, so you just have to make the middle button act as the side button for the program you need, and not have to worry about messing up the rest of you controls.

Ah, I see, thats actually really useful because it works with the bookmarks that I have on top.

What I want to know is how do you change firefox to open tabs with the middle button? I have to press Ctrl+T on mine, which I've gotten used to, but middle click would be cool.

Middle Mouse Click a link.

CTRL+T will just open up a blank page. IMO the MMC (see above
