Default INSERT CORRECT CD - NO DISC

    DEAR ALL,

I HAVE RECENTLY INSTALLED MEDIEVAL II: TOTAL WAR (RETAIL COPY PURCHASED FROM WWW.NEWEGG.COM).

WHENEVER I TRY TO START THE GAME (EVEN TRIED - medieval2.exe from the root folder rather than the shortcut) I HAVE RECEIVED THE ERRORS:

INSERT CORRECT CD OR THERE IS NO DISC IN THE DRIVE. PLEASE INSERT A DISC INTO THE DRIVE.

THE GAME STARTS WHEN I INSERT THE DVD 1.

I HAVE INSTALLED THE PATCH 1.2. AND THE SAME THING PERSISTS.

I REQUEST YOUR MUCH APPRECIATED HELP.

Hang on, are you complaining that the game won't start without the disc in?

That's pretty much standard for all games these days...

    WHS
You need to have the disc in the drive to be able to play.

I have this same problem, i installed the game then when i went to start the game i get the error message "cannot locate the cd-rom please insert the correct CD-ROM, select ok and restart the program" when the disc is sat in my disc drive, i took my game back to the shop and the guy said it might be a faulty disc. But the game wont load and i tried downloading a patch, but to no avail. What do i do?? help!! :hmmm:

Hmm, you do have disc one in, not disc two, don't you?

The disc that the installation finishes on is not the play disc

Hi rchaks,It looks like your cd/dvd player is not reading the dvd disk.A possible solution go to your google search and type in D3DX9_30.DLL run search and download file.save to desktop. Then extract to your windows 32 folder. It would be best to totally uninstall medieval2 before doing above. Then reinstall Medieval game.with luck your game should work.regards magpie.

directx 9 has nothing to do with reading the disc...

Im haven a similar problem, my computer keeps telling me i have the "incorrect" or no disc in when i put my M2TW disc 1 in. I tried my disc 2 for poops and giggles and it didnt work.
Strangly enough, my Kingdoms worked fine... I tried the first patch for M2TW but my pc said I had no copy of M2TW on my pc.

Any suggestions would be very helpful

(Ive been at this for about 2 yrs)

Mine does that on occasion....... if it's not a technical issue....
I just pop out the disc and reinsert..... it'll boot up, or should.
