Have you read my guide on HD TV's?

From the specs that TV is as good as it gets, since your getting a 1080p TV it doesn't really come into its own until you get TV's above 50"'s. Your Parents must have warehouse for a living room because that beast is huge! Personally I wouldn’t buy DLP TV's its a descendant from the same technology as rear screen projection and I was never happy with the quality those TV's gave.

DLPs don't have good picture if you sit very close to them, you should be like 15 feet away to get the best image, which is why I'm not fond of DLP.

Samsung is a very good quality producer of electronic products. I say go for it. You can spend a lot of time trying to find the perfect TV (with say the 'A Guide To The Cryptic Labyrinth Of High Definition' topic) but the hassle is just not worth it. In the end it is still a high quality HDTV.

Besides my point, these people who own the TV themselves have written their own short reviews. Looks good..

These TV's are like cars. The initial price is for the drivetrain. Then the price seems to really skyrocket when the options are factored in.

For the size and the price, including the rebate/coupon, its a great TV. I haven't found any reviews of it so its most likely fairly new. Its everything you should be looking for in a TV these days.

Its popular to classify DLP a third choice, behind LCD and Plasma. In the end though, more and more makers are going to DLP, some like Sony, almost exclusively, as the existing DLP technology as well as other technologies deigned to increase DLP picture quality are now cost effective to include.

Early on Sony made Plasma's but in the end they chose DLP as the format they were going to build upon. Developing other technologies exclusive to Sony to improve their DLP picture. That seems to be the way the major HDTV makers are going in order to keep prices down and thus corner a larger market.

Most of my friends own HDTV's at this point. Everything from a 63" DLP Mitsubishi, one of the best on the market, a 42" Phillips Plasma and a 40" Samsung LCD.

I have watched movies and TV as well as played games on them all, and I would put my Sony DLP up against them any day.

I have owned two Samsung DLPs and one Mitsubishi DLP. They have all made excellent displays for computers and gaming consoles and for HD material. Your best bet is to check out the TV at a high end electronics store and see what you think. There are advantages and disadvantages to every technology but for my tastes the DLP is a very good choice.

Yeah heres my TV. It was so expensive when it first came out due to all the options. Sony sent out a guy from the Sony store, inside the store I bought it from, to tweak the thing for me.
