More than one game on your HD

Greetings,

I have yet another question. Is it safe to have more than one game installed on your computer? I am pretty sure I have enough disk space to install many games. Does it do anything, like perhaps slow down performance, or anything? Thanks in advance.

i have a couple at a time but never more than 3 and only if i use them regularly, i have never noticed ill effects but i often remove them just in case

As long as you leave enough memory for OS to run and to be able to defragment hard drive (15% memory needs to be free on hard drive or if it's divided into two or more logical drives then in each logical drive) then you are fine. But if you install and just keep the stuff (games for example) and don't use them, then it's a waste of space, and there is always a space problem ( I had 512mb hard it was just a bit tight and was dreaming about 1GB or best of the best 3GB

I thought I would ask becuase I would like to play a few other game, but I definitely do not want to uninstall MIITW. It takes way too long to install, then the patch....blah blah blah. I will continue to play it, so I'll keep it on there. Thanks again.

I have a 160 gig harddisk with 36 gigs free, no problems at all. 160 gigs is not much nowadays and with a HD that size you can probably have at least 10-20 games installed on you harddrive if you just move all movies and photos etc. over to external harddrives. I have 3 external harddrives, 2 of which are filled with movies (no, not porn

Of course not, why would anyone want that?

Thanks for your response. My comp shows that I have plenty of room left. I only have about 70 GB HD w/ about 50 GB free space, so I should be good to go. I thought about getting an external HD as well. anks to all of you.

There is no performance degradation from filling your hard disk to the brim, except for certain narrow things that need to move around a ton of stuff (defragmentation being the major example). Of course, it's potentially an issue if you wake up one day and find your disk is completely full, but then it's usually not a problem to just delete stuff (e.g. empty your Recycling Bin), and your operating system will bug you when your disk space gets too low anyway.

I have diskeeper pro running all the time in the background, it's keeps my hard drives defragmented and uses next to nothing for resources. You can free up a fair bit of space that way if you have never defragged before. Also some programs/games leave behind preferences folders/game saves even after you remove the program/game. Finally log files/temp files can take up a fair bit as well.

Also there's a program that lets you visualize whats on your hard-drive...

Games are programs, just like your instant messenger, web browser, and anti-virus. There is nothing special about them, as long as you got the space, feel free to have as many as you want. Right now I have about 9 games on my PC.
