Default Upgrading my CPU, Help needed.

    I am currently using a AMD Athlon 64 2.2 Ghz +3700 processor.
I want to upgrade from this to something more powerful, but I don't want to switch to another Motherboard just yet.

Could some of you knowledgeable guys help me with this?

What Processor would you recomend me upgrading to?

I am on a 939 socket and don't want to change MB.
Preferably Dual Core processors as I am looking for as much performance as possible.

Please use THIS LINK and recomend processors available there (you can change the sliders, just keep it for the 939 socket) as these are the ones I might be able to buy.

I would really appreciate your help in this!!

Save your money. I don't see much sense in buying another chip for an obsolete board. Once you've saved up enough pennies, go for a new build (CPU/Mobo/RAM).

The 3700 is enough for current games...it might "seem" slow, but it's actually not a bad CPU.

The 3700 works allright, but it somewhat bottlenecks my x1900 in some games.

What do you think aboutOpteron 185 would work?

I completely agree, a new build these days isnt much coin, and the 3700 is a nice cpu. Just overclock the hell out of it. If you really cant afford a new build then drop $30 on cooling. Although I'm sure you can squeeze a lot out of it with stock cooling.

hey there, do not upgrade to a new CPU with your AMD 939 board...its not worth it as you already have one of the finest CPUs for that mobo.

If I were you..id be looking to buy a nice new CPU, Mobo and RAM for a respectable price.

on a site called Komplett there are plenty of kit deals that you can buy in 1 click. check it out:

    https://komplett.ie/k/kl.aspx?bn=10297

I think your Swedish so dont worry! this site also delivers to Sweden.

Have a look around there! you might find something of use to you.

Definitely Intel nowadays. Wait 3 weeks for the expected price drop and you'll end up saving some money.

If you can afford a new build, do it.

IF you cant, then a dual core opty will do you fine. I got a 175 and overclocked it to 3ghz and it does the job.
