Will There be Another DoW Game?

I just finished up the expansion for Warhammer 40,000- Dawn of War, Dark Crusade and I'm left wanting more....not to mention seeing the little cut scene at the end of the game leading me to think something was on the way fairly soon....

Has anyone else seen the little ending movie when you finish the campaign in DC?

First off the movie for your given race leads you to think this isn't over by a long shot. I played as Chaos and it said something like: "Kronus was only the launching point for a conquest that would span all of the universe...". And then that ending movie after the credits where it shows the different planets with explosions and such? Then it ends with the giant 2007 with the name Relic under it.

I'd love to see either another expansion or maybe even a DoW2 sometime soon - that would be amazing!

Any thoughts on this?

Anyone heard any rumors maybe?

It is easy for Relic to create another DoW game, especially the storyline can be created very easily since the background is so huge.

Anyway, I would like to see Tyranny next time!!!

I'm pretty sure if they make another DoW game it will include the Tyranids. It would also be interesting to see if they include the other races not in the DoW games already:

- Daemonhunters
- Dark Eldar
- Dark Angels
- Witch Hunters

Stories and plot lines are infinite given the amount of info and history Games Workshop has come up with over the last decade or so of their 40k series of miniatures and such.

I'd really like to see planetary combat in the next game (that's what they hinted at I think...) Basically take the campaign map in DC and then map several planets worth of them...it would take you weeks to just get through one campaign! You'd have to planet hop all over the universe and such.

Also there are tons more units and such that could be added to all the races...there are so many different miniatures. Plus, can you imagine how nice a new DoW game would look if you jacked up the graphics to current type ones? Amazing.

What I'd like to see the most would be the ability to choose what chapter/company/etc of a given race you play as in the campaign (especially if it's open and free-form like DC was). It'd kind of be like the same sort of option in the existent skirmish mode.

Basically Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters are belonging to human force, so probably they would not form a new faction but serve as addition units of Imperial Guard or Space Marine.

Dark Angels is a chapter of Space Marine.

Dark Eldar is possible another additional faction, although I am not sure their organization.

DA is one of nine original loyalist Marine Legions vs nine non-loyalist(traitors) originals, plus two legions which were lost.
Legions were huge - 25-30 th marines and after Heresy loyalist ones were splinted to smaller chapters 1.000 strong it called 'later foundlings' .
DA was first Legion created by Emp .Their primarch Lion El'Jonson was lost in infancy and showed up later on Chaos-tainted planet of Caliban(later destroyed).
He joined one Temple order led by Luther in the Crusade to reclaim Caliban
from wilderness and they became closest friends .Soon the Golden era descendend on planet and Emp himself showed up revealing Lion's parentage .
Lion was given command of DA and whole Order joined it too.Young members
had the Legion gene seed implanted .Even Luther has received certain treatment and enhancements yet he was too old to be turned in proper marine.Lion,with Legion, went for Imperial Crusade and Luther has stayed on Caliban with some number of marines to garrison it
In time of Heresy Lion with DA was attacked by Night Lords,acted by order of Horus ,they repelled the attack and moved to Terra .Horus there has learned about that , attacked Emperor himself and got himself killed in process .
DA then headed back on Caliban ,but were welcomed by Anti-Starship fire.
Luther has got jealous and let himself to get tainted by chaos.
Lion attacked back fought all way to Luther brought him down but couldn't deliver the death-blow upon his former friend .Luther ,who got empowered by Chaos has used this moment and blasted Lion with Chaos-sorcery ,mortally wounding him.
Caliban then got destroyed and DA started to hunt down those who were with Luther - Fallen ones.They are ashamed by their betrayal and keep this
in secret .
Yet otherwise DA is as an other loyalist marine force

I think it'd be good if they could do one with the different Space Marine chapters, just so they have some variety. Each with there own unique units. If they do another one its got to be another campaign like Dark Crusade and not a story driven one like the original game.

Technically they have all the most well known chapters but they can only be played in the skirmish mode (which I'd like to see changed). I don't know about unique units though...I'm no 40k miniature player...are there many different kinds of units for different chapters?

Yes, some Chapters have unique units, like the Dark Angels or Black Templars. A Black Templar Crusader Land Raider for example.

Actually there is a 40k spaceship game, here's a link. So they do already have a lot in place for that. Personally I'd like to see some War Machines in the next DoW, like Titans.

Yeah - I know what you mean. In DoW it's just their banners and colors that are different.

Besides just throwing ideas around about if a next game is made does anyone know any hard facts whatsoever concerning one? Did everyone else see the little movie at the end of the credits fro DC? There has to be something pretty soon - it did say 2007 yeah?

I wonder if maybe it got pushed back or canceled or something...I haven't heard a word concerning any game having to do with 40k.

I do wonder however if the new installment has anything to do with the Dark Angels....aren't they a relatively new addition to the 40k miniature universe?

Nope, the Dark Angles were the first Space Marine Legion.

They could do a game about the Horus heresy, it'd be interesting as 40k miniatures hasn't covered that yet.

Hmm...well thanks Naptown for bringing that to my attention. I never saw anything on the few times I've been on the GW website for actual spacecraft in 40k. That's pretty cool - then the inclusion of space battles would fit quite well in the game.

I only hope that the campaign doesn't turn into like Empire at War though...where you have one map per planet and the gameplay is more centered on space combat as opposed to land combat. The universe didn't seem as vast and filled with different things as much as you would think it would. EAW was fun for like the first 2 weeks and then I started hating it...the space battles are still very fun though and very well done.

Maybe they could give us an entire system of like 8 planets, all with Dark Crusade type maps. Then again, it would be hard to manage everything at once, and there would be to much going on.
