    Default The "perfect" Campaign

Looking at the "Super powers" post i am supprised about peoples reations to super powers as so negative! So I would like to start a small thread about a "perfect" campaign, and what should happen?
    Firstly start posistion?

Two schools here, either a "shogun" start, ie very small territory, lots of rebel cities, faction could expand anywhere. Or two "SPQR", large territories, faction adj.
Dont know which i prefer, but would like a differant campaign every time I restarted as my main priority.

Mid game would have some factions expanding, some developing, with 1 or 2 super powers emergeing. Again it musnt be the same factions every time as priority.

End game would have a big rebellion in your empire, or a big invasion from another faction, again priority given to prevent same factions/cities revolting.

All could be acheived by a random script, that gives a differant "strat" file each time you started a campaign, You could make some factions aggessive/expansive, some defensive, change who was allied with whom, and each time it would be differant. Another random script to gift large somes of cash at differant times to differant factions. And finally a rebellion/invasion scipt, again radom target cities/factions, triggered nr endgame.

Well i think that's not possible because in nearly every Mod i saw there are a few superior powers:
    - in the east often egypt or pontus, sometimes like in SPQR Greeks...
    - in Vanilla RTW Britain in the North, in SPQR Germans....
    - Rome of course and often also macedonians...

A big beef with superpowers is that the nations we would like to fight most are taken out early by these aggressive factions. Before it wasn't so bad when Macedon was king in Greece, at least the Greeks still had Asia. Now Macedon gets wiped out by Greece, Dacia and Thrace before any of us (maybe not Garnier) has to take on the Greeks.

Another big issue is the endless stacks of the same units that stretch from Castra to Sparta. My four legions in the North have to hold off 5 greek armies full of hoplites (no Spartans ). What's worse? every unit is 242 strong and only serves to slow down the battle to a crawl. These things are expected with every superpower and it loses its shine after 5 to 7 major battles. After that, it's loathed to the fullest degree possible.

A perfect campaign would consist of no expansion by all factions except for Pontus which would be very moderate, would target Turkey and no farther and would start maybe 30 turns after Marius reforms. All barbarian factions being allied, eastern factions at war with each other, random rebellions in the proper territories, and constant fear of a barbarian onslaught for every civilized faction.

my thoughts exactly. i don't care how easy or difficult the battles are. if every turn is just going to be more of the same, why would i bother even playing anymore?

well in 6.2 there were many people who complained about macedon being too powerful and kicking the greeks out of greece too early on on the campaign, so Lt weakened the macedons a little to give greece a chance, but what happened in the end was that greece got too strong.

i think maybe the world map wonders might have a hand in causing this?

Anything is possible right now. We should wait to see if the solution being discussed in the Super Powers thread will help, or if it will even get off the ground.

i liked it that way in SPQR 6.2, so you could fight the macedons in eastern europe, then the greeks in asia

rep me if you like my posts, and it's highly likely you'll get some back
