SPQR= PURE AWESOMENESS.... IF you have a good PC, because SPQRs battles are usually at the lowest 4k vs 4k people.

If your pc aint top notch then give RTR a try, it is a great mod with alot of depth and fun gameplay.

They both have their ups and downs. I think the battles in SPQR are really fun, but there are a few things that annoy me, like having a 5k vs 5k battle every other turn.

I like the overall campaign of RTR but I don't like the battles, so idk, pick your poison.

SPQR is a real challenge, and thus, devastatingly fun...i suggest you practice with RTR so you can move up to SPQR afterwards

rep me if you like my posts, and it's highly likely you'll get some back

SPQR focuses a lot more on epic battles, heaps of battles every turn. So... it takes ages to complete a campaign and it's pretty challenging.

I havent played RTR though so I dunno about that.

I don't even notice the difference in length of battles for RTR. Once you figure out how to use cavalry properly, it's not all that difficult to end battles quickly.

You have to train yourself not to use the corners of the map when you're outnumbered, then you start to lose battles.

I like the idea of lots of big battles with SPQR, but the whole ideal of letting the computer build up just so you can have fun is stupid.

I settle for something not so intense and drawn out as SPQR, Roma Surrectum. It has the 0 turn recruitment, but ... it's different. Not sure how else to describe it.
