Shouldn't you just merge the differences over works and come out with a combined 2.0 build for patch 1.5?

Merge what? Are you talking about merging Gold and Platinum or 7.0 and Platinum?

There is nothing to be merge.. RTRPlatinum is same as RTRgold only its for RTW1.5 and include lot of fixes.

And further tweaks such as the land blocks, which were not part of RTR 6 Gold! (There is an optional add-on which allows these to be removed - they are annoying when playing as Bactria.)

When RTR 7 is released people generally won't be playing either RTR 6 Gold or RTR PE!

Unless the poster is clearer we can only make assumptions on what they mean.

For me RTR Gold is very stable - the only problem I have with it is the 'late campaign bug'. This can be worked around using RomeSage and a little persistance.

I would expect many of the 'fixes' for RTR PE are in order to tweak the game engine (specific to later versions of RTW) to do certain things - which would be specific to that version of the game engine.

    7.0 is based on BI

I meant gold and platinum. one is for patch 1.2 one is for patch 1.5. Why don't you port gold to 1.5 and combine the projects again. seeing as platinum is not an exact replica of gold.

Platinum is a port of Gold to RTW 1.5 (and BI 1.6 engine). Trust me.. I know.

As to not the exact replica, it's true since there's a lot of difference between RTW 1.2 and RTW 1.5 engine so changes must be needed.

There's no point to port is it's an exact replica...
