It is natural, and not particularly surprising, that Total War Center attracts so many people who are fascinated with history and, by extension, politics. To me this is wonderful, because, at least here in the states, a certain intellectual apathy has set in, and people often go out of their way to not discuss things that may actually effect their lives. Even the public schools have chosen to skirt any controversy in favor of repeating dates of events over and over. This is not a problem at the common community of TWC, and as a student of anthropology, paleontology, economics, and ecology, I can provide some interesting perspectives that you may not hear elsewhere.
But to me the real draw of TWC is the modding community. Because I am both creative and technically incompetent, Mods have always held an inaccessible mystique for me. Fortunately I have taken the initiative to join the "Wrath of the Norsemen", and although my role is still decidedly Non-Technical (I'm writing descriptions, previews, helping design the tech tree, that kind of stuff), I will be receiving a shiny new gaming laptop in about a month, and I hope to use the opportunity to become aquainted with skinning, modeling, then coding, and more advanced things. Far down the road I hope to lead my own Mod, but in the meantime I need to understand the ins and outs of moding, as well as gather some clout.
