    Default Barbarian Invasion Help

In my western roman empire campagin after pacifying the lands and begining to expand i checked on my faction leader parked in rome- I scrolled my mouse over the crucifix and saw this

    Offical religion:Christianity
    Set Shrine/Temple to change

how do I change it- it would be nice if I didn't have to pacify all of my lands i captured and isntead re-pacify my interior lands

you have to destroy the shrine in the setment by bringing up that building scroll then pressing the demolish button in the bottom left hand corner of this scroll. Then you have to build a new shrine of a different relgion. If i remember correctly there is one Christian shrine to start with and 3 pagan ones for WRE.

I would advice that at the start of the WRE campaign you change the whole empire to one religion, i take the Christian way because my capital is cristian... Also try to "get rid" of the pagan generals too cus they will dislike the change and rebel to Rebel faction faster.

I went Pagan in my WRE campaign.
    http://rtw.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/f...f=10,5908,,all

I killed my Christian faction leader deliberately so he didnt cause a 10% unrest penalty to all my pagan towns. My few other Christian leaders didnt fare very well either.... and the guy carrying the Christian relics..dont ask.

Working out how to control of your initial regions is very much a part of what you take on when you start a WRE campaign. Play a small barbarian faction if you dont want internal control problems. Good luck axeman. Franks have a load of axemen !

I can control internal problems with the WRE- I already did it- I just wanted to know how to do it next time for refference.

Plus the frnaks axeman are boring- I just build levy spearmen after upgrading the pagan temples that give weapons upgrades- I can get them with 2 shilver chevrons and a weapon and shield upgrade*currently anyway*

An odd thing I noticed was that the Berbers are Christian, all their family members are Christian as well. How weird.

Imposing one religion is a good idea; it just makes for less of a headache, to be honest.

You should demolish all your Christian shrines/churches and build pagan temples. This way is easier for a number of reasons, but the most important is that your Empire is all Pagan, except some cities in Southern Italy and Africa; you risk facing serious civil rebellion from Pagan cities, as opposed to a handfull of isolated Christian ones. Personally, too, I prefere the Pagan temple's bonus'.

There are some characters that will be a problem, though.

After you bring Paganism back, you need to sort out that emperor of yours, and his heir. Find a good Pagan family member with strong stats and make him your heir, and take your Emperor from Rome and send him on a suicide mission (rebel town, something of that nature.) Second, there should be a guy in Pannonia province who is really Christian (Marcus, I think his name is)- he holds holy relics (a living saint, and the true cross), and will frustrate your efforts to make your empire Pagan. Send him on a suicide mission too.
