Default All my Generals are lepers...

Hi no complaints really I have been playing this mod for about a week and I think it is my favorite and highly anticipate the next update.
One problem I have with my kingdom is a lot of lepers. This seems to happen whether my generals are in town, on campaign, etc, almost randomly, and Very frequently, making almost my whole family useless leaders/commanders. Can anyone give me advice as to how to avoid gaining leprocy amongst my generals, what triggers it, what to do when one becomes a leper, is it beneficial to kill them off once a leper? Thanks for any help guys.

-Also in the games I've played, the Armenian faction conquers almost the whole world by 1200 (early era), was wondering if they dominate anyone elses games and if maybe they are too overpowered?

@ the leper comment--As far as I am aware, this is an issue with BBB, the triats mod. Though perhaps SV or DaVinci mentioned something about fixing it earlier, I have a bad memory...

@ the Armenian comment-- One game I played, they got pretty powerful, but in the other games they just hold out for ages.

    @ Leprosy

The next version of Sicilian Vespers (2.1) will include the new verions of Blood, Broads&Bastards, the mod that handles all the new traits. The high percentage of leporous family members will be reduced significantly then. In general, up to this point i used a small island province like Chios or Palma as a leper colony. An exile for all those poor souls that obviously offended the lord.
If they have good administrator traits like budding beaurocrat i give trhem a small settlement away from any action to pass the rest of their life.

    @ Armenians

Are you serious? Actually i was thinking about making a post and asking for some booster-pack for them. In all my campaigns (so far i played 4 all of them in the late era) they got wiped out very soon. The Mamluks, the Il-Khanate and even the Mongols seem to make a sport out of who is going to get at Konya first. They have a funny name for that sport, Jihad or something. I always asked myseld why the Ottomans never do anything. They just sit at the western coast of Asia minor and are happily recruiting town militias. Places like Byzantium or Konya are mere rumors to them.

    EDIT:

    Darn, SV was faster.

    EDIT2:

And he was talking about the early era...i need new glasses and a bed.

The Fuzz is correct, leprosy is a problem with BB&B, but it will be toned down in the upcoming SV 2.1 release.

The early campaign has been completely reworked, so you should see a much more balanced and realistic early campaign in 2.1.

While waiting for v2.1, you could fix the traits file for yourself.
Check export_descr_traits.txt and look for the key-word leprosy. Then change the triggers and/or the chance to your liking.

Leprosy was present in Middle Ages, but maybe Gout was even more spread among nobles. And it was not contageous, luckily. So yes, BB&B was exagerate at giving this trait so easily. But our heroes intervened with their powerful vaccinations, and in 2.1 Leprosy will be down! Cheeeeersss!!!

Has anyone tried to get rid of the traits by cheating? I know there is a give_trait cheat and I guess there is also a remove_trait cheat.
I haven't tried it yet, but it could be one solution for someone who does not want to mod nor wants to wait for SV2.1.

I guess, we'll have to ask BBB modders to improve their file regarding leprosy, as we are planning to apply further their file-updates ... so if you guys also discuss this theme kindly once more in their forum would help ...

I believe it has already been toned down in BB&B 2.0. I think it is definitely occurring alot less frequently in my playtesting with SV 2.1 already.

... but it is still to high (the rate), it is unrealistic that nobles get leprosy in this appearence. BBB should exchange it with another kind of sickness which was realistic also for nobles ... leprosy should be the pretty seldom case ... imo.

Change the name of leprosy to gout, which should only appear in maybe later years (35-60) and the penalties shouldn't be too much, probably just some lowering of hit points and maybe fertility decreasing since he has deformed joints. (I have seen it happen)

Were there any other leaders besides Baldwin IV who got leprosy? If not, just changing the name to gout should work. (and make it so that they don't get "the Afflicted")

What causes someone to be a leper, from what experience I have, it seems that generals who stay in one city are more likely to succumb... what is the trigger?

Default Re: All my Generals are lepers...

Well I took the advice of the posters here and went to adjust the triggers, I halved all the values and have only had 1 or 2 lepers in about 50 turns so I am happy with that.

They are most likely to become lepers if they end turn in an overcrowded city.
Somewhat likely if they end the turn in a city.
And unlikely to ever get it outside of a city.

At least that is the way I read the triggers..

As as I said some posts before, Gout for Everyone!!!!!

The penalties for this illness could be even penalties of movement...

For those who were asking how to change the rate at which leprosy triggers, you want to go into your Sicilian Vespers file folder, and open the text file export_descr_character_traits. Hit control+F and find LeprosyTest1, this will take you to the first of several triggers that will trigger leprosy in the mod, and the text looks something like this:

    Trigger LeprosyTest1
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

    Condition RandomPercent < 1 ; .10 x .01 = .001 chance, right? At most, 1 in 1000 characters lepers
    and not EndedInSettlement

    Affects Leprosy 1 Chance 3

There are many such triggers that you will want to edit to reduce the amount of leprosy you're getting, I halved all my values myself, but you can change them to anything you want - the way you do it is by changing the number that comes after Chance, so the above could become "Affects Leprosy 1 Chance 1, would change that ratio from 3% to 1%.
