    Default The sacking of constantinople?

Are you guys ever going to include the veneto-crusader sacking of Constantinople? Maybe by having a massive western rebel stack pop up and siege the city? Or perhaps, for later editions, an emergent Latin faction?

No, it wouldn't be fair. Because the Empire don't have western lands, so the its aim is to control the great eastern plains. And this game isn't history, it's more what if?
Why we dig up the past? To understand it.

Go for it, adds more excitement to the game like the mongol invasions. besides Byzantium, if i have my way, wont be controlling constantinople for too long bwahahaha!

Well, it would certainly throw the Byzantines off balance somewhat.

I agree that simulating the sack of constantinople might be a bit distasteful. I myself consider it a particularly evil episode, perhaps even more so than the crusades on Muslims. But to say its "unfair" is wrong. Currently Byzantium is a power house, they have nothing to fear from the west so all they need to do is steam roll the Turks and Armenians. I think if anything simulating the 4th crusade will be game balancing and will give the Byz player a really cool battle to fight.

It won't be some automatic pop-up that says "Your capital has been sacked! X number of your citizens have been slaughtered". You'll have a chance to defend yourself.

Anyway, the mongols did far more damage and killed far more innocent civilians, so should we remove them for being distasteful...

Hmm. Now that you put it that way... you're absolutely right. The Mongol invasions were like 50 sackings of constantinople

In my opinion,The byz have enough enemies in the game, actually the fight nearly all the Muslim factions in the game, and the Koj and Armenia,Georgia,so adding the 4th crusade to the game will make it impossible to achieve victory

Like I've said once already, I've actually played the game. The Byz don't have any enemies except Turks and Armenians who they can steam roll thanks to the money coming in from constantinople (very very developed and rich). So gameplay is not an issue.

As far as I've seen, they are in a great spot at the start, all they really need is to consolidate their territories, contain the turks, and keep the other christians from taking them out, then they should have a decent time of it.

If you think that playing as the Byzantines, and defending against the 4th crusade will be tough, then I would suggest you avoid playing as the Khwarezm shah.

Trashing the 4th crusade will be a walk in the palk in comparison to resisting the Mongol hordes.

If you want an easy campaign then I would suggest firing up vanilla M2TW. I won't be happy unless BC makes you sweat at the keyboard.

Keyboards don't support large enough currents and are in general insulated very well

Just remember guys, the western territories of the Byzantine Empire would be funding expansion into Europe and fighting the Venitians and Hungarians, so its not like your getting the short end of the stick. I think this will really help the blance and make it more fun. Perhaps an advanced notice, saying the Venitians are preparing for the 4th Crusade against the Muslims? Then another notice saying they are headed Constantinople, prehaps they need supplies & repairs...
