For all of you Anti-Americans out there who have this weird image of America being like the Anti-Christ or something I ask you this, what country do you think is better than America and why? What makes your country better than America, and what makes America look so evil and disliked in the eyes of other people and countries?

Somebody better have some good reasons why America is so much worse than all the other countries in the world

I'm not anti-American but I do prefer other countries social care systems, like Britains and some of the Scandinavian countries have.

Maybe the question you should be asking is why is America better than other countries?

It's the other way around, Americans always say they are the best at everything and their country is way better than any in the universe, put that together with the utter ignorance your current government shows towards most of the world and you have a world that dosn't like you...
Actually the only thing I can think of America is better than my country is the lower taxes, but again our high taxes gives us a second to none social system. We have something called "velfærdssamfundet" - The welfare society.
This model gives us lower unemployment, fewer poor people, and lower crime rates. I also don't like the two-party system, that you call Democracy. I know there is always two major contenders, but in nearly every European country the ruling parties are very dependend on many smaller political parties.

However I really enjoyed my trip to the States many years ago, the people I talked to where very nice.

Holger, I am assuming that you are Dutch, though I apolgise in advance if you are not, I myself am English and would like to point out, simply as a comparison, that in my country, we to have the welfare State, as more than a third of the budget goes into social services. As a means of comparison, our major parties get their money from private companies, our Conservative Party gets a large portion of its funds from a Scottish-based chicken breeding company, one which provides the major supermarket chains with chicken.

If you didn't ask, I wouldn't even think about USA, far less hate it.
I still don't hate it, and as for what country is better, the answer is MY, and it's because it's MY. Or is it mine? Anyhow...

Lol really thats the thing. People are far too apathetic by nature to really hate another nation, at least most people anyways.

Btw mine would be the correct word to use, but no biggy.

*This post was in response to original topic title of "Why All The Hate For America?"*

The majority of posters here are American and British.

Its quite obvious that today America is the biggest boy in the schoolyard, and with this power naturally comes slight arrogance. Britain, as the former leader, still carries some of this arrogance - which is not necessarily a bad thing, it brings patriotism, which is good, but it just means a few are overly proud of their nation - and for some it is hard to accept that the times have changed and Britain is no more a superpower.

This, and my former point, links on to your argument as these British posters are simply jealous of America's rightful claim on being number one and when that natural arrogance comes into play their hatred boils.

    I am British myself.

    speak for yourself boyo.

i have yet to see anyone on this board who is anti american (i mean real anti american)

the problem is that the general attitude is that you are ether with us or against us, so anyone who critizes america is branded an anti american and hates everything they stand for when its simply not true. critism is just that it doesnt mean hate. and most of the critisms and stupid ass threads and debates which followed could be avoided if the whole "better then everyone else" attitude was dropped. i bet none of the americans here agreeing with this topic have once thought of all that shite which has been said to other nations like france, uk and europe in general.

every country has its good and bad points, in some areas america is a "better" country but in some ares it isnt and of course everyone (with the exception of a few) sees their nation as better because its home to them and everyone they know and love is their.

i personally prefer britain as a better country then the usa. this is down to the fact i value healthcare over guns, no other reason apart from that and the fact it is my home

as an american i have to say i love this country, i've got a good life here...as for why people abroad dislike us, i think it's our activist foreign policy that causes so much consternation, but what can you do? as a nation, we have to look out for ourselves (this is not some kind of commentary on the iraq war) and our own interests first (which is what i would expect any nation to do), and that's not always going to make everyone happy

rep me if you like my posts, and it's highly likely you'll get some back

We always go around saying how great we are but our healthcare system and energy policy is a joke, for starters. God forbid we take a look at some european -style healthcare systems that work and apply it to our country, suddenly we're too proud to learn from europe.

its because americans take too much pride in capitalism and dont want socialism. also they have the highest non graduate rate in their schools (over 25% dont graduate in the US) and their education is lowering every year, also now their economy is failing (so is everyone elses, but not as drastic or anywhere near as close as to the US) also, americans tend to be ignorant on foreign affairs since they dont live by many countries and the ones they do they treat like crap, while our europeon countries have more knowledge and respect for other cultures, while america laughs at everything that isint run by McDonalds or starbucks

    Capitalism FTL
    Socialism FTW

PS: i lived in america since i was 2 and i personally realized how ignorant your people are (i moved back to england when i was 18 because i hated america) no one told me you guys were that way, i came up with it on my own, and have always loved the UK more than america/

when americans say that (and most dont by the way) we are referring to frances actions during ww 2. yes we know about the revolution, it was actually one of the first politically divisive isssues our nation faced (whether or not we should help the revolutionaries)

but again i say that people who say such things are not representitive of the US.
