this thread spawned from something in the main thread, its goal is to edit unit and campaign descriptions to make them clearer or more intressting
why? because its the only thing CAE is lacking
Holy Roman Empires new units:
"{Imperial_Longbowmen_descr} The lack of competent archers within the Imperial army had led the Kaisers to find an effective solution. It was obvious that the English fielded the best archers in medieval times. In the light of the researchs about the reason for this, military advisors of the Kaiser pointed out the reason for this laid in the type of the bow that the English used,so basically the Empire's military supervisors copied the "longbowmen" troops of the English and tried to adept it to their own army. These men are lend to some important allies or proctrates of the Empire, naturally the Teutonic Order is the first and most respected among them. From time to time at great expense and by the Holy Roman emperor's grace and favour Imperial longbowmen were lent to the Order, serving them for a period of time.
{Imperial_Longbowmen_descr_short} Although not being as sharp marksman as their English counterparts, and not equally trained these archers will give quite a trouble to their adversaries when they take the field.Like the English longbowmen these men are also able to deploy stakes for defense against heavy cavalry charges."
"The lack of capable archers within the empire has forced the kaiser to either hire mercinaries, which can get expensive, or discover why the English and Welsh archers are so effective and train his archers like them. It was discovered that the English archers ability lay in the type of bow and the arrow's they used, still a self-bow, but made of yew and much larger than average, and using a bodkin point arrow head, to give superior armour penetration. The Military supevisors of the empire had some of these longbows made, and copied english training methods, the result, whilst not as impressive as english longbowmen, is still a very effective corps of archers who can copy the english method of deploying stakes to ward off cavalry.
From time to time, units of these men are lend to important allies and vassals of the empire with the empire still paying for them, cheif amongst these allies is the tuetonic order, providing an order which relies on its heavy infantry and cavalry with a way of skirmishing, opening up more options to Tueton(ic) commanders."
short "Imperial Longbowmen arn't quite as effective or accurite as their english counterparts, but try telling that to the enemy knights who if on foot can be decimated by their constant barrages. These men also borrow the ability to deploy stakes from the english longbowmen."
Dragon_Knights_descr} The Order of the Dragon's Knights are neither commoners nor nobles. They all represents the royal bloodlines of their Kingdoms, highest edge of their own society, the utmost top of social hierarchy.Eachone of them are Kings, some among them are Princes like Vlad Dracula , that is in their own lands are seen as Kings. And one of them is an Emperor, the founder of the Order,Emperor Sigismund.Wealth being out of question,no other knights can afford the "adamentium plate" of the Dragon Knights nor they can afford the golden-bronze mixture armour of their horses. As being seen as grown up men even from their childhoods;these rulers are well-versed in the Knighthood as well as combating, dueling and jousting.Their horses are of the finest breed, also trained especially for war and quite accustomed to the noises of war even the ancient sarissas of the ancient macedonians cannot frighten these mighty steeds nor will a camel..Although Dragon Knights rarely take the field, when they do weaker units will disappear at the whisper of their coming, especially the infantry...
{Dragon_Knights_descr_short} With superb armour, excellent horses and a unit made up of Kings blessed with wealth and power Dragon Knights are the masters of all cavalry,They will fight honourably and rather die than to be captured by foes that dream of earning their immense ransom..
The order of the Dragon Knights was founded by the emperor Sigismund in 1408. Those choson to join the order were at the very top of the feudal heirarchy, each man a king, or equivalant to a king, in the lands he ruled. Because of this, these men can afford the absolute best of everything, including adamentium plate armour, and a gold-bronze armour mixture for their mounts, who are, of course, the finest horses in all of europe, trained and conditioned for war, so they are fearless in battle and will stand and charge against any foe.
For their symbol, the Order designed an insignia of a dragon with its tail coiled around its neck; on the back of the dragon, from the base of the neck to the tail, is the Red Cross of Saint George, with the entire image on an argent field. The dragon represented The Scarlet Beast of the Book of Revelation while the red cross represented the victory of Christ over the forces of evil. Members were required to wear the symbol (often as a medallion) at all times and were often buried with the symbol.
The men themselves have been trained since childhood in jousting, Duelling and combat. Thanks to all this, they are the absolute masters of all cavalry and untrained units will falter at any hint that these fearsome knights will take to the feild against them.
short: Each man a king, Dragon knights, they are truly fearless and can easily cut through inferior units, which, just so happens to be most units. Dont throw them away lightly though, as any enemy who manages to capture one can expect to live comftably of the randsom for life, they are the masters of all heavy cavalry though and will fight to the death in any situation
yes I did borrow a paragraph from wikipedia, but its a good one
