    Default Update

I'm working on the conversion and moving of these factions right now, and have made a lot of changes.

Belgae and Scythia are now where they should be, all the faction names changed, and the Boii, of course, are placed as well.

I'm having to be 'methodical'....lot of AOR, faction ownership and resource changes have to be made, and the whole culture change for these two former Greek cultures rather involves tearing into things and re-writing a lot of stuff.

I've also made a number of changes to the map.....removed Malta and turned it into 'Rhegium' in Italy. Also removed 'Garama' in Africa, made one huge region down there, and used the region to rework the area around Dacia and Scythia so as to separate them...at least in the beginning...with a 'slave' territory.

Also reworked the area around Galatia and Pontus...the whole area didn't look right, so I fixed it. Pontus was split in half by Cappadocia which used to be Pontus, and I extended the regions Seleucid holds there northwards so it looks like they hold the territory they did.

I still have to remove the 'Briton' Free People from the north and the Barb territories...oh, and also did some 'cosmetic' work on the Boii regions so they don't look so disjointed and strung out.

I've also converted all of the economic changes into this new setup...very tedious.

The reason for Cappadocia region splitting Pontus in half is because in the early years (280-~180) Cappadocia was far more powerful and expansive then Pontus, and it had control of a few ports on the Black Sea. What I would suggest is taking the "Sumeria" region (its city is Opis) in Mesopotamia out and adding in a new province in North Anatolia called Cappadocian Pontus or vice-versa (EB has it as Kappadokia Pontika). The city should be Amasia. This should be Pontus's new capital. Pontus should lose Sinope and Trebizond because it didn't have control of those two cities until a bit later (a little after the rise of the Artaxiads and Zariadris). Those two were under the control of Sinope which, in its heyday, was a pretty powerful force. Also, Pontus should not have control of Cappadocia (city is Mazaka, which later became Caesarea) So, Pontus having control of Herakleia and Amasia while not having Sinope, Mazaka, and Trebizond, would make for the most historically accurate situation possible in Anatolia. And they would have a buffer against the Seleucids because Cappadocia would be independent (which no other mod does). Hopefully that was clear...

P.S. Also, I think Mesopotamia is way to divided. Historically, it never took too many sieges to take control of it. I would think dividing it like EB does would be smartest, with two regions, Babylonia in the north withcity Seleucia, and Characene inthe South with city... something, can't seem to recall, I think it is Charax though...

OK, I'm working on this.....gonna look odd though, with a slave region splitting Pontus in two. Oh well, they'll just have to take it!

Well, remember that Pontus loses Trebizond, so they won't be split, just a little more isolated from everyone else.

It's not 'divided', it's properly representing its population and urbanization. The region it never took many seiges to conquer is that the cities were rarely conquered; they typically shifted their alliegance to whoever overthrew the old order. The Parthians never took over the cities, they just accepted tribute from them. The game engine sadly doesn't mirror any of this, but to give all of Mesopotamia 2 regions, while Asia Minor has 15 or 20, is woefully unbalanced. Mesopotamia was enormously wealthy and had a huge population.

Don't worry, I removed one of the regions from Sicily instead, because I know Cherry and NR had worked on this. Sicily had too many for this start date anyway.
