Icon5 Witch one to buy ?

    Hello

I've been thinking of getting BI or medieval 2... so i have few questions

    1. Is there guns in medieval or in BI (Pretty fateful question cos can u call that war u are standing a mile away ur opponet and shooting behind trees ? Well FPS games are good but strategy games with guns... yh...)

    2. If i buy BI can i still play RTW?

    3. Is the settlement managing easier than in RTW (BI or Medieval)

    4. What is the year u start in BI and Medieval

    5. Is the map same size than in RTW (BI or Medieval)

    6. Witch one is better (in ur opinion) or if u only have Medieval/BI do u like it more than RTW (And o tell me why)

    1) There are guns in medieval, but not in BI.
    2) I don't know really, I don't have BI, just seen it with a friend.
    3) The settlement managing is the same for BI and RTW, and pretty much the same in medieval too.
    4) I don't know the exact year but I think that medieval starts somewhere round 1100 a.c.
    5) BI mapsize is as big as the RTW size, and the medieval size is a bit bigger but not much.
    6) I didn't like medieval at all. The troops looks just the same, and gunpowder ain't fun at all. I've never played BI but my friend thinks it stinks.

BI is a good game by itself (you'll need RTW to play it by the way; it's not standalone), but M2TW is better I'd say, if you're using mods. If you're not, I'd say either start using mods or get RTW and BI.

    1. Just as Domitius said, there are no guns in BI. But there are guns in M2TW.

    2. Yes, you need RTW to run BI. But you can't play them at the same time. When you play BI, you onl get the BI factions. There are no RTW factions in BI.

    3. N/A (I don't play Campaign)

    4. BI takes place during the decline of the Western Roman Empire. M2TW takes place between 1080AD and 1530AD.

    5. Yeah, same size. The multiplayer maps on RTW are superior though (namely the Syrian Flats and Grassy Flatland)

    6. Rome: Total War is way better than BI. There is a bigger variety of factions to choose from on RTW: you've got phalanx-based armies, legionary armies, cavalry-based armies, chariot-based, etc. BI seems a bit too bland for my tastes. Plus, you lose all of the classic factions such as Greece, Macedon, and Carthage in BI. I hate BI. As for M2TW, I've only played the demo, and I wasn't impressed in the least. Also, I prefer Ancient Warfare over Medieval Warfare.

I think i am really getting to MTW cos i readed (at other places) that in BI it stink greatly like Barbarian factions get so few kind of soldiers and rome empire is boring etc. etc. But i still have few Questions about the MTW...

Can my PC run it well if i have 512 mb ram ?

Is the gun infantry pwning soldiers ? I mean does they kill a lot and u cant even get to close to them ? And can u recruit them from the start ?

If i was you id get medieval 2 total war, my friend resently bourght BI and we were both not impressed with it, most of the factions are very very simular. Medieval is a wicked game althourgh i think that good old rome is the best because i keep going back to it lol.

I dont use gun units i prefer to use archers, the gun units in my oppinon arnt very good, and you cant recruit them from the start you need to wait till the coming of gun powder comes then you need to build gun smiths and stuff.

Barbarian Invasion is just a piece of ****
Only Mods, which will need years to come out, making BI good, but like i said, you will have to wait too long time to play those mods

So I think M2TW is definetly better the BI,but not better then the, like ][Xyphos][ - Lee said, good old RTW
Oh and there are guns in RTW,but only in Modss

The reason why BI doesn't end in 553 is mainly because its centered about Roman decline and the Western Roman Empire was pretty much eliminated when Attila gained Hunnic power somewhere in 480 and destroyed most of the Roman legions in France at the Catalonian Fields and marched on in Italy, leaving only the Pope and the city of Rome to remain. The Western Roman Empire was eradicated in 500-something. Also, the year 500 marks the end of the classical age and the start of the Dark Ages and Medieval Age.

on my point of view i dont like BI. See in MTW2 there is fighting all around the map and it keeps stuff intresting. but in BI the fight is only up north or to the east, and there is not much diversity between the factions. its only barbarians, romans, and eastern. BORING! get MTW2

If you get BI, you can still play regular RTW. It does not interfere with your regular RTW game. It works the same as an RTW mod that uses the Mod:Switch command.

i have BI and it is great but if your thinking of getting medieval just make sure your computer can handle it because it takes ALOT and i mean ALOT of Ram. i couldnt even get it on my computer so im stuck playing RTW...but hey im satisfied with that.

I prefer MTW above both. I wished they added the good things from RTW (Awesome map, 3d models) and from MTW (Good AI, Awesome units) to create a kick-ass game. But instead the creators took the bad things from RTW (crappy AI, demanding graphics) and from MTW (Overrated gunpowder, Crusade spamming) and even BI (Sucky loyalty and religion system) to create MTW2 like some horrible, demanding, mutated, salviating monster. Sure, MTW2 has awesome graphics but you'll need a lot of RAM to actually make it work and then you've still got lagg. Sorry, but I'm not gonna waste 70 euros on MTW2 and 500 on a fast computer just to get some snazzy graphics and America.
