Today is the realising day for iPhone in US, and it seems that people are crazy about it. I have seen three times that people lining outside the cellphone shop today!! And even more ridiculous there are reporters report about the line. Hell, what the heck is this iPhone? Is it like PS3 or something else?

Well actually there's just a little more to it than that. In the "pro" section there's the fact that this "phone" can store up to 8 gigs, and there's also the nice added bonus that the internet dislpays exactly the same way that it would on your internet browser, no more of that retarded version that we're all used to on our phones. Those are in my opinion it's two biggets selling points.

In the "con" section we have the fact that the phone looks incredibly fat and clunky, and I swear it looks like poeple are holding a giant piece of lego to their ears. Also the iphone costs $600 for the 8 gig version and $500 for the 4 gig version. A more overpriced gadget I have never seen in my life, and I mean it. There's a $36 activation fee plus countless other fees, only AT&T subscribers are eligible for the phone (right now at least) I forgot just exactly how many additional fees you have to pay but it's pretty embarassing. To make matters worse you have to purchase a two year contract, and if you already have another contract you have to pay I think $100 to change over to the iphone plan, plus monthly contracts go from $60-$100 for one person. It's unreasonable for any person on a normal budget, you'd have good money to spend or be an apple fanboy or simply one of those idiots who goes out and buys anything that's new (which is most people).

I've thought about it and it just seems that all these great features will be severely underused by most people. (How many times do you spontaneously feel like looking up the nearest shrimp house while on the go?) The features suit the lifestyle of a rockstar and not a normal person. But nowadays we all want ot be rackstars so it would make sense.

It rather does look cool(and I'm no apple fanboy. I have an mp3, not an ipod) I mean touch screen and the way the internet works etc. But I heard it only has 14 hour battery life or something.

Bah.....nobody needs that stuff around here in Kazakhstan, we just rough it, by using the internet in our actual homes! I seriously think that portable internet will make society become too soft and lazy.

Unless I had a very good job I could not imagine parting with $600 or even $500 for a phone. I already have an Ipod; why do I need to be on the internet outside? And I would be too scared to even take it outside anyway, I cant stand up to a mugger.

But you can already do everything you can on an iPhone on a PDA phone. Plus some have GPS as well so they can be used as Sat Nav. If you're on T-Mobile you can get a 1Gb a month data limit for £7.50 too, making it pretty cheap for basically unlimited internet access (you can't use 1Gb just browsing web pages easily). Pah, iPhone my iArse.

If you show enough people wanting this phone so much then other people will start to believe that they must want one too.
If it wasn't for the free advertising in the media I doubt this hype would even have happened in the first place.

The iPhone has just way too much on it... I won't use the same device for internet, phone, music, etc.
Each device has its own design meant for its use and suits it best. It really can't be combined properly.
If I want music, I'll get my compact MP3 player. If I want internet, I'll use a notebook computer or laptop.
If I want a phone, I'd use the iPhone or a cellphone. As a camera? Its awful unless you're the type who takes random snapshots of your friends at the mall.
But that's just me. I'd rather have a bucket of high quality devices for each use than an iPhone.

I agree. I wouldn't pay $100 for it let alone what they're wanting. It's an apple product so your going to pay out the nose for something that's mediocre. Most will be buying it for the simple fact that they can show it off to their friends and think they're cool.

my friend has one of these



touchscreen like a palm pilot and all the other nonsense with camera and usb port....basically everything that doesn't make it a phone anymore. He is always on the damn thing, it's his life. He thought things gets easier, but appearantly just got busier and more expensive. He pays like 300 bucks /month for the service.

no, thank you very much, i'll stay with my 15 dollar /3months prepaid simple phone that makes calls and receives and does nothing else.

Yeah I have a $20 phone and it has too many useless features. I receive the occasional text message on it but it's used exclusively for calls. The wife has a razor and ultimately a $90 plan. She pays the bill so I don't pay any attention.

I wouldn't be able to stand surfing the net on such a small screen. Scrolling is the devil and I opt for a 30" wide-screen. Although I dislike laptops you can get one with Skype or some other VOIP service and it will be much more cost effective and versatile. And you can at least watch DVD's and game with it.
