Default Buying new Notebook and need help

I am in the process of trying to buy a new notebook that will be good for gaming. I have to get a notebook and not a desktop due to the mobility of the notebook and i want a really strong gaming system.

my first qquestion is about the processors
I have found a couple aleinware notebooks that are very similiar main diieferent is the processors. one uses and AMD 4200+ 2.2 ghz and the other is a 4600+ 2.4 ghz the price difference is about 200 US dallars and i was curious is the 4600+ is 200dollars worth better then the 4200+?

My second question is about hard drives
I have never had a 7200 rpm hard only 5400. Will a 7200 rpm hard drive increase my gaming preformance at all or should I stick with a 5400 rpm speed

    thanks for all your help

Any gaming notebook won't be that portable due to weight and short battery life. When dealing with processers look not only at the speedbut also at the cache size. A faster drive RPM will net you increased performance bat also increased heat. Just realize this is Not a laptop but a notebook.

Well, with any gaming notebook, you will be mobile as long as you have a plug around... otherwise, forget about gaming, and anything else besides idling will give you 1.5 - 2.5 hours MAX of batt. life.

As for the 7200 rpm, I decided against it in mine, because it will only increase loading times, but it will decrease your batt. life. Also, remember that, say a 100gig 5.4k drive might be actually faster than a 60 or 80 gig 7.2k drive because it is more dense.

Also, your gaming lappy will be at least two or three times as expensive as any tower with the same capabilities...

    You mean decrease loading times?

Anyways I wouldn't pay 200 bucks for that upgrade. Also stay away from Alienware notebooks.

Good site to go to. This is a nice comp. The 8600 GT is a VERY nice card from what I heard. IDK if Centrino processors are worse than the AMD ones, but they ARE dual-core. That's always a bonus. As for HD RPM, 5400 is fine. 7200 will decrease loading times some but once the game is loaded it stops being important.

If you need the mobility for going to school then you should probably get the cheapest laptop you can find to do your word processing and such for school. Then use the rest of your budget to upgrade your desktop and take both to school.
