    Default AAR Help

    Gentlemen/Ladies,

I've been trying to get an AAR going for several of my campaigns, and have decided the only way to do it and stick with it, will be in stages. (a running thread)

    Heres my current method:

I view my TGAS with infranview, then I copy and paste certain information from the world map, or diplomacy/ect into a bitmap image. Giving you a sort of time lapse progression of my empire. I'll attach an example below.

Since I want my AAR to be slightly image heavy, giving you several stills from important battles I wanted to know this:

Whats the best way to post those images on this forum? It wont be fancy or anything but I dont want to devote an entire thread to my AAR and do it wrong.

Any of your comments will be appreciated, The way I would like it to look is so full images show up, and i can just type some text underneath each one giving you a description of whats going on.

ok so the attached image is a real quick slap together job of how the "time lapse images will look, giving you an idea of how the world is progressing. I saved it as a *.gif and hosted it on image shack so it looks like crap.

well being among of this sites esteemed AAR writters I would suggest you use the thumbnail link imageshack offeres when you upload an image, I can illistrate my point you'll see two mentioned AARs down in my sig, the 'Caledonian Horde' and the 'Kazak Invasion'. the first has almost all the images shown on full view while the second is thumbnail's for the most part, you'll also find the second is quick to load than the first.

As for your Image method, its not a bad idea but i think it can be done with a bit of cleaning up, it looks tacky(sorry cant think of a better way to describe it) but perhaps you can get your hands on a DXTBmp programe, this will allow you to show your pics more clearly and gives you an option to save it as a JPEG, which will load quicker, plus its free to download.

Any other questions I'll be glad to answer

Judging by the Kazak link i will definetly go with the thumbnail version, how long will the image shack images last? do the links die at some point?

and yes the picture i posted was very tacky heh.. I think I will include images of the worldmap changing, and leave the rest to battle photos. This milanese campaign on Stainless Steel VH/VH im playing is freaking crazy. I'm at war with 9, NINE factions.. I cannot secure any alliances, and each turn is at least 1 field battle, and 2-3 Siege defences.. it almost sucks =)

Well my pictures have been on imageshack for a good 6 months now, so I would confiedently say they'll indefinately stay hosted. and no they wont 'die' unless you remove the hosted image (thats what I'm lead to believe).

as for your game, you would complain it was too easy otherwise, its meant to be a challenge my friend

ImageShack is very useful. But, I find it a bit convenient when the pictures are already loaded with the story. Such as using PhotoBucket. So you don't have to read, click on the picture that will take you to another site, go back, and repeat. At least your readers can read and view the picture at the same time. But that's my personal preference.

Although it could be a bit heavy on our fellow 56kers

I think it could be of great help for many undiscovered talents of writing if we somehow put "The AAR Handbook" together..?
