    Default Taking Screenshots?

My appologies if this is not the right place to post this but i am wondering how you take a screen shot and get it onto a post. I know of taking a screen shot like by using prt scrn and i have used fraps although i am reluctant to use it again. Are there any other programs like Fraps to use? Also, how would you edit the Screenshots so that i may add arrows and texts? Would you use paint? Lastly, to get a pic onto a post do you have to use something like photobucket or is there another way? Sorry for so many questions but i love taking screenshots and would like to share them. thanx

I also have this problem. My computer doesn't have paint(!). I have no other programs for photos and so on except my camera program, but that's no use for this matter. Does anyone know any program that can help me with this problem or a link to paint (downloadable).

Could anyone give me a link to paint (downloadable) or a link to other programs with the same function?

    Best regards, Domitius.

    Well what's wrong with fraps?
Personally I use fraps and photoshop, but ps is a tad expensive. I know though that there is some sort of free photo-editing program out there.

Try to ask in this thread - the guys there should know

If you want to upload a picture I'd suggest both photobucket and imageshack.

Photobucket is great because it allows you to upload several pictures at one time. Imageshack is great because it does not resize the pictures (which photobucket does).

    Hey guys!

There's an easy way to do this.

    Follow this step-by-step:
    - hit "PrintScreen" (the button on your keyboard)
    - minimize your game, and go back to Windows (or whatever you're using)
    - open a program like "Paint"
    - hit "Edit"
    - then hit "Paste"
    - your screenshot will apear on "Paint"
    - now save your work of art, and upload it to www.photobucket.com (which is entirely free)

If I were you, I'd get photoshop (tut tut)
Photoshop is a great (although sometimes confusing) picture-editing program... also, print screen captures the photos in .tga files, which most basic photo programs can't read, but Photoshop can.

Of course, the problem with Fraps is that the free version only allows .jpg images which means that the quality of the picture is lessened quite a bit.

For uploading, I personally use Imageshack, although there's nothing wrong with Photobucket.

I used to edit screenshots a while back, here's an example of the glory of a crappy photoshop editor

Are you guys sure you dont have Paint?

Its been a standard in the 'accessories' on windows for years...and years. Start 'all programs' and open the accessories menu...isnt it in there?

Ive lodged well over a thousand images on various forums. MSPaint and image shack. Didnt like fraps.

Recently downloaded the free Paint.net for a more powerful image programme. It allows me to vary the resolution/quality of images.

Also Ctrl + esc takes you to the desktop, and if you want a image editting tool paint.net is good and is a v. small file with several effects. Also if you do use paint save the image as a jpeg or GIF as bitmaps are large files.

For those of you with some computer know-how who aren't sure what image editing program to use,
    The Gimp
has about 99% of the functionality of Photoshop, is freely available (legally) and therefore easier to find/obtain/install, and takes about 15% of the memory footprint.
