    Default Several questions

Hello. I recently downloaded SPQR and think it's amazing. The skins are outstanding and it's just cool. However, I've run into a couple issues.

    1. When I'm playing custom battles, on the battle loading screen, instead of the icon for the faction showing up in the middle of the screen, I'm getting a red circle with yellow text saying "Script" in the icon's place. How do I fix that?

    2. My second question is the first time I uploaded it, I forgot to play the Sons of Mars prologue for ver 1.5 RTW. When I tried uploading the imperial campaign, after selecting the very hard battles and hard campaign and clicking the arrow to continue, it simply goes back to the NEW GAME screen. If I try again to click on Imperial Campaign, nothing happens. Then I thought that I have to play the prologue on the mod first...well...when I arrived at the battle, during the loading process of the battle against the gauls itself, i got a crash. is that all because i forgot to play the prologue in the unmodded 1.5 RTW first? I hope so, then it's an easy fix. If not, please advise.

    3. My third big question is that when I was just looking through various text files, I arrived at two interesting text files. One suggested that there is a separate Caesar in Gaul campaign as well as more historical battles such as Pharsalus, Cannae, and Zama. How do I get these to upload? Ugh, this has all been extremely frustrating. Or hell where can I find the appropriate files for the Caesar campaign and other historical battles?

This is what the Caesar text I found: caesar_in_gaul_wip_5_regions_and_settlement_names

¬ Settlement and region names for Caesar In Gaul Campaign
    {Britannia} Britannia
    {Germania} Germania
    {Nervii} Nervii
    {Belgae} Belgae
    {Sequani} Sequani
    {Aremorica} Aremorica
    {Mandubii} Mandubii
    {Bituriges} Bituriges
    {Aedui} Aedui
    {Helvetii} Helvetii
    {Carnutes} Carnutes
    {Arverni} Arverni
    {Cisalpine_Gaul} Cisalpine Gaul
    {Aquitani} Aquitani
    {Transalpine_Gaul} Transalpine Gaul
    {Hispania} Hispania
    {Oldbury} Oldbury
    {Olst} Olst
    {Aduataca} Aduataca
    {Samarabriva} Samarabriva
    {Vesontio} Vesontio
    {Lutetia} Lutetia
    {Alesia} Alesia
    {Avaricum} Avaricum
    {Bibracte} Bibracte
    {Geneva} Geneva
    {Uxellodunum} Uxellodunum
    {Gergovia} Gergovia
    {Mediolanium} Mediolanium
    {Tolosa} Tolosa
    {Massilia} Massilia
    {Rhodae} Rhodae

Thank you. Also, I don't know if this might have affected anything, but I created a new elite unit called the Eagle cohort and cavalry using the Praetorian cohort and cavalry skins. Would this act have affected the game at all to lead to the above problems? All I did was add to the various text files to create my new unit. Thanks for the help/advice.

Preferences file in the Preferences folder. FIRST_TIME_PLAY is near the bottom and AUTO-SAVE is in the middle.

Its already inabled when you install the mod the preferences are set, I cant believe no one notices. lol

Also those campaigns are Vanilla things that never got implimented by CA.

You shouldnt add any new unit until you Play SPQR as is, you know there are named Legions in SPQR, you should really READ THE README this will help show you all the features in SPQR. Adding a unit like you did, isnt really a good idea for a mod like SPQR.

Now why isn't it a good idea to add units? See, the issue is this. When I don't upload the 2 units, it works just fine. When I do, the game runs and I can fight in a custom battle no problem. My eagle cohort and eagle cavalry units work just fine. It's just when I run the imperial campaign, it doesn't work and goes back to the new game screen and when i try the sons of mars campaign, once the first battle starts i get a crash. Why would this happen to the campaign when the custom battle works just fine? It just doesn't make sense to me. And I did see the names of the legions today actually in a text file. Now, could you please explain the campaign thing you're talking about? Is that in reference to the Caesar's campaign? Also, what should I do to fix that icon problem? I'm sorry to bother you LT but I need help. The imperial campaign issue is driving me up the wall because one part works and the other just goes to hell. And I did read the readme. I know it said don't play it with any other mods, but I didn't think that meant not adding a unit. Sorry again and thanks. Really nice mod btw.

YOu obviously havent even played SPQR yet, why are you trying to add units SO early? They can be added latter at a different time. Try the Mod as is and see how the units will fit in, you just dont add units to add them there is balancing and everything else. You may find you dont really need to ADD another unit, maybe just change the existing Skins?

SPQR is NOT the mod to play like the vanilla Game, if you do you will only lose the campaign or quit playing after a while. The mod took over 2 years to get where it is today. AS for modding you are obviously modding something that is effecting the campaign, I have no idea what it is but it could be a NUMBER of things. Custom battles are the easiest to check skins and models, but other files effect gameplay in campaign. I suggest you post your questions in the General Modding section on this site. Even though you are using SPQR this isnt a SPQR related issue, but a modding issue in general. There are MANY people that may get you going in that section.

It can be a time consuming process when dealing with somebody total new to modding RTW to fix an issue. Your not even familar with the Vanilla Campaigns that were NEVER added by CA. You have alot of reading to do to catch up on what was and isnt in RTW in general without the mods, muchless with.

And personally I dont see how you can say its a nice mod when you havent really played it? lol Anyway I hope this helps to point in you in the right direction. Good luck.
