    Default Language/accents

    Hey all,
I'm just an avid history enthusiast who loves Total War games and I happened to come across this mod. I'm a Mid-East history buff, so this game looks like a dream come true.

Anyway, out of curiosity, and I'm not sure if this has been posted or not... how is language being handled? Are you guys planning on teaming up with Xenophobia at some point to get real Arabic, or at least making new accents? (The vanilla ones are pretty awful, bordering on caricature)

My father is a prominent scholar of Middle Eastern history and I think he wouldn't mind translating a few passages into, say, Medieval Persian or Arabic, if you were recording English accents and wanted to have random authentic phrases thrown in there. Anyway, just a thought- I'd like to help however possible!

    PS
I am a composer with quite a few tools and would lay down some music, but not being an ethnomusicologist I'm not sure I could lend the proper authenticity to faction music (which is probably what is being aimed for).

Wait, xenophonia has already done Italian so that would be perfect for Jerusalem! Now we would only need Persian and Rajput and you have ze perfect mod. Man when you thought it couldnt get any better, it did.

    what about the other factions?
i think the Seljuqs and the Khwarezm faction could use Persian and Turkish.
The Anatolian Turks modern Turkish maybe? the Temurids Uzbek.

Ilkhanate, Mongols and Kypchaks could use mongolian.

but i don't know if this all is achievable.

Well not everything is acheivable in the first release. In the first release perhaps this could happen:
    Sultanate of Rum- Xenophonia arabic
    Ayubbids- Xenophonia arabic
    Abassids- Xenophonia arabic
    Byzantines- Xenophonia Greek
    KOJ- Xenophonia Italian
Antioch- Xenophonia Danish (its German without the Kaiser and Riech stuff)
Armenia and Georgia- Vanilia fake Italian, or vanilia English
The Ghorid Sultante,The Khwarezm Shah, The Sultanate of Ghazni- Can all speak xenophonia arabic I presume
Rajputs- VERY difficult one. Hm, you gota be flexible on this one. Maybe, vanilia eastern European, no clue?

And Ilkhanate, Mongols and Kypchaks could use vanilia mongolian as you said.

Accents will be difficult to do, thats just one idea of course.

Actually both should use fench (I assume Xenophonia will make that as well), as that was kind of the lingua franca at this time as well as latin which was used by the clergy to communicate which each other. If it was possible then all crusaders should speak french, except the priests who should speak latin (if Xenophonia makes that as well)

Well as far as things like voices and sound effects goes the BC team will not be spending anytime with it unless people *solely* dedicated to this task join us. The problem with using other mods is that we would only be able to use *parts* of it and this there would be some major inconsistency problems. If we can get a whole package of: greek, arabic, turkish and maybe persian voices - then this might be tenable. But that would leave factions like Georgia, Armenia and Rajputs end up with no personality in comparison. So I would then rather simply keep the generic vanilla voices for the time being.

So basically, unless we have ready-made stuff that applies to at least *most* of our factions then we wont bother at all.

Right now the KoJ speaks the french vanilla accent. Which has had us with the problem of crusaders talking about the glory of france and such, we will have to edit the voice files ourselves and mod out the offending phrases. If Xenophonia has purely french files then we might be interesting in it indeed.
