Default 7950GT Good enough for a couple years?

Would the BFG 7950GT video card last me for more than a couple of years? I know how fast hardware technology is going and would like a video card which will last me a while but is fairly cheap and bang for the buck. Here is the link to the BFG 7950GT

If you could save up another ~$100 for a 8800GTS 320mb I would give you an answer of 'maybe'.
My answer for the 7950GT is possibly (which is less than maybe).
It all depends on whether DirectX10 games ship with directX9 scalability as well.

Ofcourse they will, a huge part of the market will still be using DX9 in 2 years, if not the majority. Remember, publishers have to market the game to the largest possible audience, your fancy arse DX10 graphics are a waste - in the eyes of the publisher, at least - if only X% can play it, where X is a small number.

Of course it's "good enough" but you're going to have to turn things down to medium by 2009.
I have an 8800GTS and that *may* allow me to play with full settings until then, but that's also debatable.

Ah I see. How well will it be able to run Medieval 2 Total War? And Medieval 2 Kingdoms?

Graphically you will be fine in M2TW with that card, but the best graphics card in the world won't allow you to have more men on the field, that is handled primarily by the cpu.

No, I'd heavily advise DX10 if your going to futureproof.

I have another question, would this power supply be good enough to have two 7950GTs in SLi mode? It says in the specifications that it is "SLI-Ready" but I just want to be sure as I might get another 7950GT in another year or so.

if u buy that 7950 youll regret it. 2 of them will only help you attain higher resolutions.

i would definately go dx10. 1 8800 is stronger or equal to 2 7950s even if u get the 320MB one.

Im running an x1900 wich is comparable to the 79 series and my next upgrade will be to dx10.

Ok, I have decided to get this video card. Will the power supply be enough for it? And can you tell me if the card will be able to fit into the case. Here is the mother board and here is the case.

    Thanks for the help guys.
