    Default Computer problems..

im not that 'in the know' when it comes to machines, i do know more than the average person but the avergae person's just noob

    anyway my problem:

since yesterday my machine has been buggering about. The night before it was fine, turned it off and went to bed.

Next day (yesterday) i turned it on and within a couple of minutes the screen freezes - mouse and keyboard stopped working etc (couldnt turn caps locks on etc). I reboot (cant restart thru windows for obvious reasons so i restart from the machine itself). same thing happens. rinse repeat, getting worse however is the screen, the next few times (and what happens from this point on) is the screen scrambling into a cluster**** of colours similar to what i had on screen at the time of freeze. i turn on performance in task manager and temp levels of gfx card while virus scanning (incase its some virus or w/e) - after a few mins virus scanning the pc restarts itself.

next time i try the same thing the pc runs fine for over an hour withthose and the internet/msn running and seemed to be fine for the rest of the evening.
So i go to bed believing the machine has finally fixed itself some how.

Today i get up, turn on the machine, go back to top of the post lol.....happens all over again - except this time i can run internet msn and all that but cant turn on any games.

Im thinking this is hardware related now but i dont know which part it could be - it doesnt appear to be a problem with cpu though.

Could it be your graphics card? I had a similar problem with my ATI.

hmm i tried loading up eve online and the cpu ran to 100% and then pc restarted itself shortly after - i think its my PSU (which is only a few months old ffs)

anyone more technologically knowledgable able to support my belief or?

With that I would be inclined to think heat, but as you had display problems it could be lack of power to your graphics card or similar. You can download speedfan, coretemp, everest home or a similar temp program to check CPU temps.

Have you checked dust inside the case? Also what power supply do you have?

Whats the cpu temp like? Are all the fans working properly?
(It could be the PSU...I had a similiar issue with the family computer a while back, the PSU **** itself because it was full of dust).

the fans all seem to be working properly, im not sure how to monitor cpu temp - its always been pretty warm but worked ok.

Hard drive not writing correctly. Go to the manufacture ; download tools.
Western Digital...WD ...has a very good tool for fixing these sort of errors.
I don't think you have a video problem if it was working , new issues are usually system info related. Also try rewriting the boot and Master boot records with the installation repair tool. Good Luck.

on speedfan it has some check on my hard disk and it is near full fitness/performance :/ - it cant be hard drive related..

right, it seems that i am also getting the odd freeze (but no jumbled screen or auto restart) even without 100% cpu running.. :/ im getting a little pissed that pcs randomly break like this for no reason and its so hard for noobs like me to figure out which part is doing the trouble-making heh. dont wanna have to buy a whole new pc or anything at this time
