Rome Total War:Gold Edition

Me and 3 friends have Rome total war gold edition and we are all having the same problem playing the Multiplayer game. We can't even enter the MP lobby, a message appears and shows that we failed to logon...we also tried to change the caps of our CD key but nothing...still doesn't work.

How can we fix this? or is there a patch that could fix this problem??????

would be nice to have the opinion of some1 who's got RTW Gold edition.
but any help is welcome.

it could be your firewall, try disabling it before you play, if it is this then you will have to make sure that the your firewall knows that it is rome. You may also get problems with your router too.

I have gold and it gave me the same problem. It is most certainly your firewall. If you input the wrong cd-key it will tell you that the cd-key is invalid.

Also, if you use a no-cd crack you will not be able to play multiplayer. (Good thing I don't play online anymore).

I took the CD key on the green paper given with the game, which is the good one I think.

btw: Battlefield 2 works very well and without any lag on multiplayer...

hmm...in MTW2, I can join the multiplayer lobby, but I often get disconnect from gamspy...do you think it is my router/firewall for the 2 problems?

and if it's my router, how can I fix it?

1) Make sure you're using the hyphens in your CD-Key as well

2) Try disabling your Firewall when you connect to GameSpy

[LEFT]ok I got RTW reinstalled and I even tried with my firewall shut off, still doesn't work.

I made a search on the internet and SO MUCH people are having the same problem.(Failed to Logon...can't even join the MP lobby)

I would really appreciate if the people who got RTW Gold Edition could post if they can/can't play MP here please.

I don't know what's wrong with CA but they aren't sending a reply to people that tried to contact them for this problem...well now they have my money...so who cares I can't play MP...

My game is messed up too. I got gold edition and every so i start to play the game gets all glitchy and stuff so i had to press ctrl alt del in the beginning everytime, anybody know how to fix that?

I have multiplayer problems too! I am POSOTIVE I am typing the CD Key right- and I even disabled my firewall- and nothing works

well i have gold and mine is fine i put my firewall to be less secure (i put it on low) and ever since my computer got faster and i log on like normal online.

Maybe someone should try to contact SEGA or CA? Many people seem to have the same problem.

OK as alot of people have had this problem i have wrote up how to fix it (or atleast i think it fixes it

Problems logging online to Rome Total War MP:

* first thing make sure you have typed your CD correctly with all the dashes etc.
* Next major problem is caused by the firewall. Disabling it will not work as the firewall makes registry entries not actively stop them as

you try connecting. First thing to do is to get the name of your Router as it is the firewall on that that causes problems, the software

ones you brought will ask you if you trust it. Say the router is made by Thompson and its a 510 6v modem/ router. now go to

www.portforward.com and click on port forward then onto your make of modem. Then click on Rome Total War. This will tell you how to open

the ports on your modem for game and application sharing. The ports listed on this site are not 100% correct though, so open these ports:

13139 udp
6515 udp
29900 tcp
29901 tcp
6667 tcp
28900 tcp
27900 udp
6500 tcp
27750 udp
6500 udp
26220 tcp
26220 udp
29920 tcp
28910 tcp
29910 udp
3783 tcp

and save it. If this doesn't work then try disabling the firewall on your router too. It sucks anyways and the software version most people

have installed are alot better and do a better job. Now try to get online and i hope this helped if not then sorry for wasting about 20

minutes of messing around.
