I am always pretty excited to do some CTW MP since there is hardly anyone that plays it online (that I know of)... I don't have Xfire though... you really want me to DL that, or would meeting via msn be fine for you?

well, just want to say that me and someone that I met at the SCC forums are getting together tomorrow at 20.00 GMT to do some CTW MP... if anyone wants to join, you are more than welcome... just come into the lobbies with a [CTW] prefix in your name or something like that... my nick will be the same as here, or you can just pm me for my msn (if you can't figure it out).

I'd be really interested in doing some CTW multiplayer... I have been playing the mod for only a few weeks and enjoying it much. I am using the 0.95 version of the game. I am not signed up for Gamespy or anything, and I'm not really sure what else is out there. Whats the best medium to play on line with?

Gamespy is the only way, unfortunately... however, you don't have to sign up or anything, just enter your CD key, make up a name, and go in the lobby. There aren't many people playing CTW, however, so if you're interested, then give me your msn by pm or whatever and well get together to play sometime.

I know this is a silly question, but I'm not to sure what the CD key... or where it is. If I can figure that out I'll try to get in the Gamesply lobby just to see if it works, and pm you if so.

well, if you bought the game legally, it should come with a CD key... its a combination of numbers and letters, I think its on the manual or something, don't remember, but take a look yourself.

It may even be on the CD case...

I think it would be a good idea to coordinate bi-weekly meets online..... At least we would get around 4-10 people every time... I wonder how many people have ctw??

Right... I'll try to find the disk key... though I am not sure where my manual is... or the orginal box. I have both the Rome Total War, and a gold edition that came with BI. We have just gone through a house move recently so all my stuff is still jumbled... still... I shall see what I can find.

And of course I bought it legally....

I think that would be awesome, though we would really need at least 4 people who could meet up often enough so we can have some good games. Right now, I know 2 people who have CTW and want to play it online... but I have never successfully met up with one of them, and I'm not "compatible" with the other (as in, I get GS errors trying to join his games, and he gets GS errors trying to join mine... vanilla or mod); so thats why its important to have at least 4 reliable people, in case one or more has trouble hosting.

Well I'm getting a new computer soon. and hopefully going to 1500/256, so I'll be getting a boost in speed too...

Play it by ear..

Having MSN or Xfire makes it much easier I will admit... Used it playing the RTR tourney... Got into the semis! 8)

Well... I can't find the CD key either on the box, or manual... and I have looked over every inch. The game did not come in a Jewel case, so it can't be there. This is most frustrating.

Yeah, well, i just joined the KO|RFG clan a couple of weeks ago to play N2TW, and we play using ventrilo for talk, its very useful and a lot easier and more fun than typing... also less likely to cause problems than MSN. I turn messenger off every time I'm about to play since GS crashes enough, I don't want to risk anything else....

If you can't find the CD key, there might actually be another way... theres a program called Hitachi... or something like that, that connects computers via internet and simulates a LAN network, so you can play as if we were all directly hooked up, instead of on the internet... not sure if and how to make it work for RTW, never tried it... but you can look into it.
