Ongoing Struggle...

Hey guys,

This isn't really an SPQR problem, before I had an issue where I installed SPQR but everything still loaded as Vanilla RTW. Well I figured that out after reading some other posts (thanks for the tip lt!) and I somehow had RTW under Activision AND The Creative Assembly; no idea how that happened but I deleted them both so case closed.

My problem now is this, since I deleted all the RTW files, when I pop in the RTW disc to reinstall, it doesn't give me the install option, only the play option (which obviously doesn't work.) So that's my problem, before I can reinstall and install/play SPQR I have to figure it out, so I thought since a lot of you guys really know this game inside and out could you tell me how to fix this?

I have thoroughly searched the C drive and the registry. Any suggestions or help would really be appreciated (oh I would just call customer service, but I'm active duty military in Japan...calling out for something like this isn't all that easy.)

Did you uninstall before deleting the folders? Try clicking play when you install the disk and IF it plays the Game is installed in another folder you havent deleted. Also does anyone else use this PC?

Well it doesn't play when I pop the disc in and click play, just kind of does nothing. And I am the only user on this machine. There's got to be some remnant of the program somewhere, I'm just stumped as to where it is.

I uninstalled originally, but the game was somehow in two separate directories and I didn't really have an uninstall option for that other directory. So there was no uninstall for the second directory, just deleted it.

Need to clean the registry of any RTW or creative assembly junk, that should do it.

Happen to me ones aswell clean out reg for all RTW files...have fun

Thanks for the info guys, I have followed your advice and scoured regedit for any files relating to RTW, Activision, or Creative Assembly and have deleted them all, then restarted. Still not working; my only thought is maybe the launcher, Demoshield could be causing my problem. Any insight into this or maybe any related files you could think of that I should be looking for in the registry?

Really appreciate the help!

Hold the phone! I found it! I can install again! Thanks for all the patience and help guys. Now just cross your fingers for me and pray that I can install and run SPQR now!
