Icon10 [For Newbies] How to kill 2153 Gauls by losing 4 men.

Hello all, this may be useful for newbies about cost-effectively destroying barbarian hordes. Nothing new for novice/advanced players.

Topic says Gauls but it is tested and works on Germans too. And you can use this against up to 4K barbarians at once, more is not tested lol.

And I believe it will work against any enemy. It may need a little more micro management against fully armored spartans, persian cavalry etc - but result should be similar in the end. What do you think?

The idea is to use to play the defender role and use the terrain (mountains) to tire, stop and annihilate the enemy.

I'll not post details, just including some screenshots, they should be self-explanatory. If anyone needs further explanation I'll be glad to help.

Notice the final scene where Gaius himself is talking to the last mohican

This guy is left alive on purpose, with specific instructions to tell anyone that a new general called Gaius Mettius is in Gallia Transalpina now. And he's grand grand-father of Gaius Julius Caesar even though only Soothsayers would understand what it does mean! lol

    Cheers.

Garnier thanks for the warning. Really I am not trying to argue but just trying to learn.

I seriously don't see how I am exploiting anything. I am on the top of a mountain if it's so stupid to attack me there what can I do. In such a terrain with mountains all around, do you seriously deploy on the plain?

And when AI is deployed on the top of the hill/mountain, do you attack without moving around it to gain height advantage?

If I'm the attacker I make sure theres no high ground. If I'm defending I use what I can, for example against gaul there was a massive rock in the plain, so I put my left flank against that and my right flank was strenghtend.

But thats a bit two easy.
It's like in FA:TW out side minas mourgul it's ridiculously steep, so you can simply place all you men at the top, and shoot from miles away.

If I am in a situation like that, I deploy at the bottom of the hill.

If the AI army is way up on a hill like that, I either reload my save and not attack, or withdraw, or wait for them to come down if they do.

I use rock formations and stuff, but being way up on a 60 degree slope is just cheap.

Its a cheating tactic. SPQR isnt for vanilla tactics its for realistic battle challenges. Basically it defeats the whole purpose of SPQR's creation.
