Default Where did you find out about SPQR

I just wanted to see where you guys all found out about SPQR. So, talk away.

For me, I was just looking through the mod forum. I had played EB and RTR (the most publicized for sure), and also played BBW (which I liked, but then I found SPQR and of course never went back). SPQR doesn't have much publicity unfortunately, so often people who would LOVE playing it, don't find out about it. Which was my case until I stumbled across it.

I was playing RTR at the time and was getting involved in a Roman campaign.

The night I started it, I watched Gladiator and got the idea to look for a Roman focused mod. I searched through the forums and found SPQR.

I've found SQPR in totalwar.com forum about 1,5 years ago. Back then SQPR 6.0 was available. I was surprised from the 1st battle and noticed that SQPR is an great mod. It was the 1st mod tested.

I only recently began looking at this world of Mods. In my search for 'the one' I came into the SPQR forum for a read. Very glad that I did. There is some very useful info here, one of my favourites is the stickied links to Caesars writings. This mod, forum and members have rekindled my love for history. Thanks guys.

I was playing RTW for awhile but since i did not like vanilla version that much i stopped playing until BI came which i didnt enjoy that much either hehe....I got onto the TWC forums by an accident back then in umm some years ago. Scrolling threw the forum i noticed the mods area, i belive what made me pick the SPQR mod was a screenie of a Triarii unit.

Tons of recommendations on RTW Heaven about a mod that was all about gameplay, sure is true!

I've read a diary a user in another forum posted about his campaign ( i guess he used 4.0 or something like that ) and noticed the awesome battle sytle...
But during this time my old PC wasn't good enough to handle Huge Settings so i tried RTR, EB etc. but i missed the battles... BBW was to much arcade for me so i just bought a new PC ( for M2TW, bored of it because of less men on Battlefield and atmosphere ) and now... SPQR just rulezzz
The only bad thing was i decided to wait for 6.3... Then after it become published i started campaign...And now 6.4 is out, so i had to restart again

I was then new to TWC, and was browsing through the downlaod section looking for mods. I think mundus magnus was the first mod i've played. Then i figured out that there were mods posted in forum and so how i found SPQR.
It was version 4.9 i think, and i was astonished by all those loading screens and very well picked soundtrack. It was also the only mod with the 0 turns recruitement system back then. Great Work. Ave SPQR!

Honestly can't wholly remember. SPQR was my first and only mod i've ever used on RTW, and I've never regreted that. Think its was 5 back when I first found it.

I think it was the focus on Rome and on longer, more intense battles that made it stand out more for me

Same here, can't really remember. Tested several other mods but have always gone back to SPQR fast.

There is no other mod matching SPQR. I liked the fact that you need to consider the "supply" factor with legions if playing by house rules. All units are perfectly balanced according to my taste. AI sucks in any mod but at least functioning at its best in this mod. The addon is a nice development taking care of the only thing not so good - the superpower thing. Just hope for another version with Numibia as well as new map with another aggressive eastern faction.
