    Default Assorted Questions/Feedback

So, after successfully getting the mod to work and playing a somewhat full game as the Western Roman Empire, I have some questions/feedback.

Do the special ancillaries like Patrician and Master of Horse and such, ever return if the guy who is holding them dies? Do new ones appear at all?

Will all those characters who start in forts ever have children, since they don't appear in the family tree?

Is there any way to get the Romano-British on your side as the West Romans? The two should be in an alliance at least, I think. The Romano-British also seem to overrun Ireland and the Picts very easily, as well as defeating the Saxon invaders and going on to invade France. Was this intended?

Is there any way to make more of the map known to the West and East Romans at the start of the game? They did formerly rule most of the map, so it's strange they don't have knowledge of it anymore.

If you activate the full scripts, will the Western and Eastern Romans permanently stay allied, unless you attack them? Also, what exactly do all of those other scripts do that come with the full scripts, as well as the other options like Shadowing-Spawning on?

I don't recall if I could train these units at the very start of the game, but very early in, about the 6th turn, I moved the capital of the Western Roman Empire back to Rome, and later in the game, I had the highest level of barracks built both there and Ravenna. Neither of these cities could produce the Palatine infantry (although both could produce the Palatine auxillary infantry and the Palatine calvary).

During battles, as I moved the camera around, sometimes weird black lines or shapes would start to appear, obscuring the battlefield. Typically it was when I moved the camera close to calvary units. Is this a known bug and is there anyway to fix it?

Just want to finish off by saying that this mod is fantastic and remains my favorite BI mod, so I'll be awaiting the release of 7.04

yes they would, for both questions

they are in parallel family trees (non ruling) they do have children, etc

This is not intended, hoefully with the next version this will be addressed - the gaels in Ireland will replace the Picts, currently when the Picts are made too strong they overrun the islands very soon (just as ridiculous a situation)

planting spies, assassins, and diplomats would be a good way of doing that... actually what you said makes sense but is impossible ingame

they will permanantly stay neutral, even if you attack them. making them allied gives rise to several problems (u wouldn't be able to war against their allies - ex u play WRE and ERE allies w/ Huns, u cannot attack the Huns)
    other scripts:
-limes scrpts - makes the limes commanders stay in their forts
-Sack of Rome script - makes the Goths sack Rome and move to southern France
-Saxon Invaders - spawns Saxon Armies in Britain until Saxons have a foothold there
-Hephthalite invaders - spawns Hephthalite Armies in Media and Sogdia
-Sassanid patisans - spawns free partisan armies when the Sassanid capital is held by another faction.

will check how I did this first, I think the Palatine Auxilia and the Paltine Legion are exclusive to each other

this is a known bug, only way to fix it is remodelling the units, w/c I am doing

I just swopped officer units. That was an easy fix.

I've looked into it further, and it seems maybe the reason I couldn't recruit all those units was that I either built something that shouldn't have been built, or didn't install the scripts. Moving the capital apparantely affects nothing, and Verona is capable of training the regular palatine infantry....

Yes, after further testing, it does seem that there are a few exclusive units. Comitatenses First Cohort and Comitatenses are exclusive, as are the Palatine Auxillary and Palatine Legion. Strange though, only Verona is capable of making the Palatine Legion and only Neopolis can make the First Cohort. Speaking of the Comitatenses First Cohort, shouldn't it have some sort of standard and "Eagle inspires nearby troops" like the Palatine Legion and Palatine Auxillary?

not true, I will list down the regions that can train these units when I can finish the player's guide (it takes just as much time asmodding the game)

strictly speraking there are no 'first cohort' trained in the Game, realistically speaking the first cohorts weren't trained from scratch to be first cohorts, they were simply chosen from the best cohort. Curently, in game, they are all just legionary cohorts of the field army (or the Comitatenses), except that they have different skins, different weapons shown (all should have lancea, spatha, pilum/plumbata but isn' possible in game) as to why they have diffeent skins just think of it this way:
each legion shold have a differen shield (as per Notitia Dignitatum) so I simply expanded that to diferent skin

Ramon, i think we should contact Lesten - in his dead (?) mod "Imperia Romana" http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...t=40877&page=1
developed a very complex system of traits and so, and we can spare a lot of work if he agree in sharing it with us. time ago i sent him a pm, but he was not ready to release...
ha said ""I'm afraid I can't release a version of the trait system yet, since I'm still working on it for The Gathering Storm (for Medieval 2), but once The Gathering Storm has been released I see no harm in releasing the version I made for RTW.""

from 30 october 2006 maybe time has come to sent another PM...

question is, when will 'the Gathering Storm' be released? I think it will still be some time, maybe by then we'd already be working on or have relaeased INVASIO BARBARORVM II.
