Default Best strategy for keeping Generals loyal

I'd like to hear from everyone about how they keep their generals with high loyalty and prevent them from rebelling against you.

I find it difficult, even under the best of conditions, to prevent a general's loyalty from gradually slipping lower until he's on the verge of turning on you.

Any and all suggestions will be welcome and appreciated.

    Hmm.

Well think of it this way your on campaign all the time not enjoying the Good life in Rome, I think you would be rebellious pretty fast. lol

Rotate Generals ever so many Years keep the one general in a City with education or and imperial palace. This helps them regain loyalty over time, though its random.

Try not to fight too many battles with the same general, too many victories makes him prone to think Bigger! Basically Watch the traits, they let you know how many battles the general has fought, they are there for a reason, as a gauge. Getting too many 30-40 and you risk loss by then.

Long Campaigns on the front or in Forts. Being away for long times can cause a general to feel its time for the good life and get the wrong ideas. Again rotation just like in real life makes sense.

Watch Governors in RICH cities or with ALOT of games, they tend to get Ideas of siding with others against you and can turn on you overnight even if they SEEMED to have loyalty before. Too much entertainment breeds VICE and VICE causing disloyalty eventually.

If a Family member or General Gets 0 loyalty and IF you place them in a city and get Horrible Unrest its time to send him away and slit his wrists. He has become and enemy and NOTHING you can do will change that. Send him in a ship and send him to davy Jones. Of course you DONT want to do this just because a regular general is at 0 loyalty, he can regain it in the cities. Its the ones with 0 and Unrest and squalor that you need to get rid of. As they are traitors period.

    Hope some of this helps?
