Thanks glad you like the changes. Though I havent set the thespians to play in Custom Battles you can just add them to Greece and remake the Battle of the 300 Spartans. If you notice the Unit size for the Spartans is 150. ;-)

I concur. This mod is amazing. I played 6.2 but starting off it was mostly me just grabbing land from the Gauls with no probelm... Then someone had to have an idea to put hannibal and another stack in Italy. I have to say, that was the most tense turns & battles I have ever played in RTW... I guess I was lucky Hannibal was killed by his own rampaging elephants before my army was defeated.

Pretty much if you played with Fog of war on you probably lost your first campaign. lol because if you let him get the cities or lose the 2 legions south your sunk, because of the gallic attacks from the north. I seriously doubt some here didnt restart after the mistake of losing to hannibal? Dont feel bad it was suppose to be a challenge. the whole idea is NOT to always know what is going to happen like real life.

the same here i was lucky hannibal got killed my slingers while the whole battle was equal every single unit in intensive fighting and those elephants beaten back. hannibal is annoying however that other army or stack near southern italy is tough to defeat too. Messana is under siege by the greek army of Spartans and reforced by a carthagnian stack, while arminium is under siege by the gauls too. i very much like the challenge and losing a large army in southern italy paves way for revenge, which i can't wait to avenge the lost of soo many good men.

First of all the new skins for the general unit is fantastic i just have to say WOW! Hannibal in southern Italy what a great challenge added yummy.....Thank you LT for spreading joy among SPQR fans.....

Glad you liked the generals, He was added LAST MINUTE, thank Ferres for that, he's a friend and provided All the roman skins/models except maybe a couple. I altered the chainmail to be more gray, but over all there stock. I had to adjust the Skins for the Generals as it was last minute and he was low on time before release, but he gave me a couple to work with and it was pretty easy. I also made Gloss files for all the greek units and some others, New mercs adds for players that use them alot. Now you can send mercs in the front line to save your vertrans. lol P.S. Some buildings cost more so beware, and Generals should start out more loyal than before.

I found the player has a 50% chance to win or lose in the first few turns. One tester lost the first 2 tries. lol Took him off guard how strong carthage is.

In one test I did I one both armies with heavy losses, but then on a second test things didnt go my way and the velites never made it to the elephants and they destroyed my legions. lol Its hard but possible. The key is let the players figure it out. Once you got great, but let other enjoy the figuring out how its done. ;-)

My suggestion to anyone is focus on destroying Carthage and just hold the Gauls off. This will help prevent German issues which could cause a 3 front war. Anyway its more historical to take out carthage first.

In this campaign I also took another slightly different approach. I decided that I was sick of fighting greeks, so I try to save seleucids by giving all leftover money to them each turn. I wonder how that will work out.

I have had some bad tragedies in my campaign, flavius julius and his entire legion (I gave him the good one) died fighting hannibal, and vibius julius' legion was all but destroyed (and he died) fighting gauls.

Looks like greece is owning macedon. I am worried that they may be too strong still but we shall see. Before, macedon pushed greece out, and greece took all of asia minor, egypt and pushed up into russia.

Hannibal got killed under a siege...ive pushed out carthage from italy mainland though its not much left of my two legions in the south. Or to be exact the one left alive and breathing fleed the battlefield last night against another large carthage army with loads of mercs in it.....

And top of that a half full stack macedonian army landed in southern italy, i lost both genua and arminium to gaul but im still alive and kicking for now

Woah.. I never seen that happen. What difficulty are you playing on?

I had almost a 40 min battle managing to hold messana in sicily from an elite force of carthage i had lots of hastai, town guard, 1 velities and slingers and they had two units of elephants and a huge infantry and cavalry it took forever to beat them as i managed to beat one set of the elephants the second was a nightmare since my reinforcements

The reinforcements were 3 cavalry and 3 units of velities and i had scarfice hundreds of men in order for me other set of reinforcements to come in and finish those elephants off. It was mad the elephants tried to destroy all my infantry it wasn't until the very end of the battle when my reinforced cavalry and 70% of my army was destroyed that my velities come in and killed their enemy general who was on an elephant. At the end i was like i need a break after that after all that hardwork trying to keep messana out of carthage's hands.

Nice to see such different results, it shows that Each SPQR game is unique, some suffer badly and give up, other barely win, some save messana. lol By greece taking over Macedon though you should not see a strong influence in asia minor now. Mainly Pontus, armenia or Parthia will become the super powers, Egypt of course also. Seleucid had to be sacrificed for the greater good of the eastern nations. After all who wants to send legions hundreds of miles to just fight Greeks? lol

I was thinking of the nice feature Alexander Xpack had on AI not attacking eachother, but they removed from the cost alot of other things like Testudo etc I believe, only if they left that in, I could use alot of the better feature in that Xpack.

Dont forget to download the Spartan Fix stickied above. There was a slight error with the text for that file that caused CTD upon loading for battle when using the spartan mercs. That file fixes it. I am working to have the ddownloads fixed but that takes time so for now add that file to your Data folder and you should have no worries. I think the biggest thing is Spartans are costly and most wont buy them. lol
