    Default romans from rome

why doesnt anyone make roman models based on the legionaries portrayed in the series rome from HBO and the BBC? the net is filled with pictures and stuff.

they look absolutely great; caesarean legionaries, octavian guards(with somekind of lorica segmentata), centurions, generals, standartbearers, roman cavalry, ubian cavalry. specially the equipment.

it would take only to edit some other roman legionary models

they would look awesome in game........please someone hear my plea

    some pics

    Hi bond24,

This maybe what you're looking for :

They're from RTR Acient Empire, a mod based on Rome:Total Realism.

hey tiflo i have a little question....i used your animations pack, but have some issues and i have no idea of how fixing them.....my legionaries instead of marching in order to meet the enemy dont follow my orders, i order them to move forward and stay in legion formation but instead they run to the northeastern part of the map, they walk or stay put when i order them to run and run when they feel like it, the dont attack like they should and now the enemy also does the same, his troops also break formations and run northeast, i have no idea why this happends.........plz help me again if its not so much trouble.

Erm... I don't really know what's happening to you.

I assume you're using my pack on RTR:AE. I don't have it currently installed so I can't check what's in it. Which units' skeleton did you change, and which one did you put instead? Also, a lot of these anims are ment to be used by the same unit (ie. fs_gladius from EB and from RTW-BI Unified Skeletons, and fs_Prome_Gladiusman from Res Gestae), so you can only use one at a time for each specific unit.

i put the files that the pack contained in the animations folder and then in the descr model battle i change the fs_swordsman in the early legionary to fs_1_gladius or something like than and that thing happend......

    Wierd...

I have this for my legionary cohorts and it perfectly works
    Code:
    skeleton fs_javelinman, fs_s1_gladius
Did you make a backup of your original files ? You could retry to play a battle with them, just to make sure the problem comes from the pack. Though I don't recall of people getting troubles using it when I released it last September. All of them used it on mods built on RTR, just as RTR:AE.

Also check this thread, there may be some useful info. Honestly, that's the first time I hear of such a thing happening.

    weird thing isnt it?

yeah i backed up the original files and put them back after the problem, an it was solved.....but now my legionaries fight like a non historical ones, stabbing only sometimes and slashing.......i have kept it that way although i loved you pack.......

anyway thanks for the help and time

    long life to you!

I guess this is kind of frustrating, especially for those Romans. You should try SigniferOne's Animations Pack. It's included in my pack, so you will find the animations you want in it, and hopefully you'll be more lucky with this one.

And don't worry for my time, trying to help is the least I can do for something I provide that doesn't work

    Thanks anyway

Many of us just can't find a proper historical referrence for this helm.

yeah i know, i havent found an historical reference either, i like the montefortino though, but look that those legionaries dont have red clothes matching their affiliation that is more realistic i think, and the ubian cavalry as an very good auxilia cavalry look really cool, and specialy the centurions, they in the series look very good, and lets not forget the kind of praetorians that are shown as octavian guards, they wear segmented armor but the early legionary helmet.....the series have many many good things that could look really nice in game.

Some call it a 'montefortino' type but that helm from 'Rome' has more similarities to the much older 'Attic' type helm with smaller cheek guards.

An early version of the segmentata did appear in Octavian's time. So they would be wearing the 'coolus' type which is not a great difference from the montefortino.

lol i know the differences between them.....i was talking about the montefortino not the one that appears in "rome", cause as you said i havent been able to found an historical helmet that looks like the one in "rome"

and will someone add the early segmentata armor to some type of octavian legionaries? so there is a reall link between the great caesarean legionaries to octavian and then the classic full segmented armor legionary like the one in ferres avatar? cause they look too different....you know, a legionary using the caesarean legionary equipment except for the segmented chest armor

I think the greatest problem is that there were different many types of helmets used by Romans. The Montefortino is probably the most known one.
