Default Does this mod have numbered legions?

Not trying to initiate a fight here, but does SPQR have numbered, historical, legions like in Roma Surrectum? I was browsing the foruns and found this mod that has "longer battles" and doesnīt favor guerrila wars.

I like playing as romans and would like to know if their armies are different from each other (like Legio XXX, XIII, XII etc.).

Another question if I may, what does the senate work for? I noticed in some screenshots that the purple senate faction is still there...

EDIT: I also noticed that this mod does not work with BI, does this mean that the mod canīt be played with barbarian Invasions installed or it wonīt work THROUGH barbarian invasion? If it is the first then Iīll need some help.. for any random reason I canīt install patch 1.3 in my pc, the only way I can get the RTW version to 1.5 is installing BI. Any help appreciated!

SPQR comes with numbered legions. You can only train legions in their respective provinces (Legio V for Patavium).

The Senate still gives you missions and you still have to appease to them or risk early civil war (not good!). It's given 5 or 6 armies from the begining, all full of Post-Marius units who give you a run for your money later on. Funny thing about the Senate though, only family members with 0 loyalty are given positions.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: Sorry, can't help with the BI problem.

SPQR does have historical legions and distinguishes between legions, in that certain cities train different legions and the legion can only be retrained in the city it was created in. But the unit textures them selves aren't different for each legion as they are in Roma Surrectum.

Not much other than occupy Rome with a large powerful armies. Like in vanilla rtw you must first get enough popular support before you can actually attack the senate faction. Mostly there to force a civil war later in the game and make you lust for Rome early in the game.

SPQR is one of the great rtw mods you have to try atleast once. For me its the best mod focusing on the roman era. I have found it to be the most challenging mod there is, its main focus is game play. If you like Roma Surrectum you will probably like SPQR , since Surrectum draws alot of its ideas from SPQR.

Yes. As long as Bi is patched to 1.6

Edit: Dam i got distracted and GaussSoldier beat me to it....

great... just another question: do I have to keep a script file open while I play the modded game or just hit the shortcut in the desktop?

    My advice:

Wait til tomorrow, and get the last version (6.4).

When you do install, start your first campaign using the houserules strictly. They may not seem fun at first to some people, but after 50 turns, when you decide it would be fun to really take it slow and steady and play in a very organised manner, you won't have to start over (like I often do).

Use the killsheet as well, it makes the game far more interesting. (and adds another challenge, trying to keep losses low).

Then when you become stuck with this mod, you will become a die-hard fan like the rest of us here, and we will have a new member brainwashed with SPQRness.

muahahaha, don't be scared away, I'm just a bit tired and hyper.

But my advice still is good.

SPQR 6.4 should be released at anytime now... just keep checking the stickies above

You need to create your own shortcut in the desktop to start the mod... There is an optional ingame script that you can use with SPQR but you need to striclty follow the instructions stickied above in order to use it... it is highly recommended that you use it
