Icon5 On which difficulty will you play v2.1.0 on?

    WaZaaa!!!

I just wanted to have an idea as to which difficulty should I play a new campaign on the eagerly-anticipated TLR v2.1.0 mod by finding out on which difficulty you play on and recommend for others...

At the mo, I'm on M/M just so as to avoid any bias on the AI's part and I must say that I'm really enjoying my Abbasid campaign, finding the economic aspect quite challenging particularly at the beginning. AI aggressiveness-wise I must say that things are heating up a bit with em Byzantines preparing larger stacks to restore Constantinople to their struggling empire... Battles are real fun; my victories are significantly dependent on how offensively aware I am. I've had heroic victories as well as embarrassing defeats , which led me to trying out a couple of VH custom battles just to see how I'd cope. It seems that I could do just fine in the upcoming release of the mod with Medium difficulty campaign and Very Hard battles but I've always felt that harder difficulty settings for battles enhance the AI's unit balances

    Anyhow, what's your say?

    Hello my fellow Abbassid player!

i'm not a 100% sure what difficulty I'll play. For the longest time, I've played on M/VH. I used to play VH/VH... I didn't mind the campaign aggressivness, but I couldn't stand the constant deteriorating relations. It just doesn't make sense to me (Although I think it makes perfect sense for relations to deteriorate accross the board when you become the #1 faction, and the medium difficulty does that) Maybe I'll try that difficulty level again on 2.1 and try to get as many allies as possible... and wait for them to backstab me.

In the next version, the campaign difficulty levels won't decide the AI aggressiveness as much as how intellegently they appear to manage their economies. It will also dictate things like inclusion of siege costs.

Definitely M/VH. Most fun for the look of things, since tornnight said he would try to make the AI a little more aggressive.

Defenitely VH/VH although I will start with an easy fraction to figure the new economics out

How will that work? How "intelligently they appear to manage their economies"?

Basically, the difficulty will control the economic bonuses/penalties incurred by the AI/player. This is done in a way that is transparent to the player and so it just looks like the AI is managing the economy more carefully.

Since true improved AI intelligence isn't possible, economic bonuses is the next best thing. The AI truly opens up when given enough money. They just spend it poorly.

For example, they will garrison their cities better and will field stacks appropriately.

It my test runs, it has forced me to be more careful about how I advance. And two sided wars can be deadly.

Could those of you playing Medium campaign difficulty tell me how the AI is doing in your games. I've always played VH/VH with the vanilla game and mods, but I'm playing a multiplayer campaign with my wife and I've dropped the campaign difficulty to medium while she learns the game.

We've just started today so it's only rebel settlements so far. I want the difficulty to be low enough to give her a chance to learn the game, but I know some mods are balanced for higher difficulties, so that the AI doesn't function well without money bonuses on M (for example, Europa Barbarorum).
