    No, it has to do with the shaders (90% sure). I myself can only have the lowest shader detail so I can't have the blood and dirt buildup.

    You need to have 2.0 shaders on for it to take affect.

    You need to turn on 2.0 shaders, which is an option in graphics. If your graphics card isn't good enough to do that (Like mine), you can't.

    To get even more of the red splashes use Skymod from Horsearcher.

    even if u can, it hurts your performance much. I use shader 2 but I cant turn unit size on huge anymore unless I want to have less than 10 fps.

    I think it depends on what kind of card you have, I get no gains in framerate with SM1 vs SM2 w/o shadows or bloom.

    (using geforce 7900)
