Default Little Suggestion concerning build times.

Has anyone ever thought about changing all build times to 1? What we could have is a system then where you weren't constantly making sure your settlements are building as to not fall behind the AI but rather you build when new building projects should take place. What could be done is that military buildings should cost a lot of money, say 20-30k for a drill square, this will stop you from quickly occupying loads of territories and them becoming military center's right away. (Unless of course your rich, which then it can be thought of as establishing a forward rally point or base.) Economic buildings (Mines, Markets) price could be increased but not by too much, otherwise the gains received from them will not pay their initial cost. Ports and farms should cost a lot also, farms should cost say 15k for a communal farm. If anyone finds this suggestion interesting I will work on an updated EDB of this sort. Where people can test to see whether the AI can use this system without problems (which i see as the main issue with this, though I have not tested.)

hm sounds like pretty good idea, however for some projects like farming upgrades, those took years to complete (depending on what upgrade/terrain) and higher tech buildings such as cathedrals (i believe there was one French cathedral that took over a century) anyways for little ones like town hall/market i agree, having 4 years sounds ridculous for a simple building like those
-win the initiative and you win the battle, win the battles; win the war
-it is truly the soldier who yearns for peace the most
-hannibal didnt use his victory, alexander didnt keep his victory, and caesar was killed because of it; ah the politics of war

I like the idea of individual build times for individual buildings. From a realistic viewpoint it should take longer to build paved roads than a tavern. Right now everything takes about the same time to build depending on its city development tier.

The high cost comes with two things needed to be taken into consideration. As you need to save for a structure your bank account must go over the limitations for corruption traits. These traits would have to be adjusted. I believe the AI is not very good at saving money, it usually priorizes building up fullstacks over ending a turn with a positive bank account. I am not sure how well the AI could handle extra high build costs.

I don't like the idea of shortening build times. While for some structures it would be more realistic it also effects game mechanics alot. With the 2 turns per year in DLV you need longer build times so as not to shorten the campaign. If vanilla build times or god forbid 1 turn build times were in then I would foresee the a very short campaign in relation to the actual year. Hell by 1200 I could see all of Europe having units and infrastructure of the 1600's. Not good IMO.
    HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY!
