    Default Bitcomet help

Hi, my bitcomet is really slow lately. I followed all the online guides but they confuse me a lot for some reason.

Right now I rarely break 60kbs and I have pretty fast internet. Also my upload speeds is often at a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio with my d/l.

    Anyone can help?

First of all does the torrent you are downloading has enough seeds/leechers (usually more - better). Second, you could try other torrent program, we say utorrent, if the speed doesn't change and is still low, than there is possibility your internet provider is blocking torrent ports, or maybe you are in the 'heavy user' list, then your speed is cut off significantly, because you share certain bandwidth with other 'heavy' users.

It has a lot of both -more leechers I recall. I used to use utorrent, but now I'm experimenting. Thing is, this torrent is 70% done and I don't want to just quit out. And, I frequently hear about people breaking 200 kps.

And before you had higher speed I assume. Did you play around with firewall lately, are the ports open?

I don't know about ports but before I was pretty stable at around 100 with a 150 upload rate. I didn't do anything I think and I definitely didn't touch my firewall. How would I check the ports though? I'm relatively ignorant in the field of internet speed.

    Two tips.

Don't cap your upload speed and don't try and download multiple torrents at a time. If you cap your upload it gets reported back to the tracker/seeder and they will black list your IP address which is passed onto every other seeder so it effects everything you download.

If you’re running your DSL via a router you may need to open up some ports (port forwarding, google it).
