at war with everyone

Im playing Venice vh-vh 1.2.

I got excommunicated, took Rome to kill the pope.
The new pope declared a crusade on one of my citys.
Every faction in the game is now at war with me.
I tryed to make peace with the new pope so I gave him 3 citys and all of my money. 3 turns later he was in war with me again.
I tryed to kill my leader, in vain, still excommunicated.
Trying for a ceasefire on vh-vh is an extremly dificult thing to do. You have to have lots of money to give away, and i dont.

Am I condemd to try finish my game with nothing but enemys? Its not fun. I mean no one is in war with no one exept me with all.

The pope's just a little cranky. Give him some time
He excommunicates factions like its nobody's business.

If you have a good enough assassin you can try to take out the pope. Maybe the new one will be nicer to you.

If you aren't to far into the campaign I would recomand restarting and do the following:
¤ Start by getting an alliance with the Papal states and maintain high relations through bribing. Do this before you attack your fellow christians Milan.
¤ Next, move for and attack both the Milanese cities. If you don't you will soon find yourself in trouble when they start mass armies of genuese crossbowmen. You now have an economic stronghold in Italy and are free to expand elsewhere. Try not to go to war with too many catholic factions since the Popes patience isn't endless.

Yes Kratos, thats what I did, it seems much easier now, having good relations is a must in hv-hv. This was the first game that i quit, becouse it was just not fun to be all alone and having only enemies everywere. I could have tryed to win even then.

But still, not as hard as EB 0.81b campaign.

Now THAT was a campaign!

Hope to see MTW2 to get mods like that in the future...
