Default Meet the Forumers: 6 Questions for You!

Let's get to know the forumers!

    Please answer the following questions:

    1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?

    2) Do you play R:TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?

    3) What's your favorite faction and why?

    4) How long have you been playing this game?

    5) Who's your favorite Ancient military commander and why? (you can also mention a Medieval commander if you prefer)

    6) What else do you want the Forumers to know about you?

    ****************************

    1) Why did you pick your Forum Name?
I picked the Prince_of_Macedon because it expresses my complete devotion to the Macedonian warrior-leaders (namely Alexander the Great), but since it's so generic, I don't feel the pressure of having to live up to the reputation of Alexander in battle. Online, I'm known as the Prince_of_Macedon. Just a little secret though: I only use "Prince_of_Macedon" if I'm meeting someone or if I'm hosting a tournament.

    2) Do you play R:TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?
I played single-player Custom Battles for nearly a day before I jumped online. Sometimes, I'll setup Custom Battles to explore a map's tactical possibilities.

I don't play Campaign, but I'm sure it's excellent for its grand strategy aspects.

So basically, I play online exclusively.

    3) What's your favorite faction and why?
Macedon because it represents the home of Alexander the Great. I don't care that the game designers gave Macedon the short end of the stick when it came to heavy cavalry. Ok, that's a lie. It does bother me a little bit!

    4) How long have you been playing this game?
    Since December of 2006

    5) Who's your favorite Ancient military commander and why?
Alexander the Great is my favorite for various reason:
    - his bravery and gallantry in battle was incredible
    - his absolute determination to be victorious (his Siege of Tyre is a perfect example of this)
    - his near-reckless aggression in battle
    - he never lost a battle that he personally commanded
    - he led by example

    6) What else do you want the Forumers to know about you?
I want everyone to know that my AIM is: MacedonPrince. If you want to chat about the game (or if you want to practice a 10k battle against me if I'm not busy), feel free to message me.

Also, I want everyone to know this about me:
    1) I only play at the 10k denarii level because I think it's the most fair money level
    2) I don't play team battles
    3) I don't know anything about Campaigns, so don't ask me anything about them LOL

    P.S.
I'm new to this forum (obviously), but I've played several hundred online battles already. I used to post in another Forum, but I had to leave due to issues I had with an individual.

Since I never introduced myself on the welcoming forums might as well post it here.

    1. Roshak used it for everything else because I like the name and belongs to the Battletech universe.

    2. Single-player ONLY
Only play Single player now because I retired from online RTW.

    3. Carthage is my favorite faction because of Hannibal Barca and Sacredband.

    4. 2 years been playing. Now play off and on.

    5. Hannibal Barca is my favorite. He was the only one to beat the Romans after they started to expand and all most brought Rome to its knees. Also because the only records of him exist in the hands of his enemies thus giving an pretty accurate portrayal of him.

    6. Absolutely Nothing! Sing it again now!

By the way there is a place to post who you are and introduce yourself here:

    ______________

    1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?

Atterdag was the nickname of a high medieval Danish king who resurrected Denmark back from the dead in the second half of the 13th century.

He was a hard and sometimes cruel man, but he got the job done and won all of Denmark back from the German counts and Skĺne from the king of Sweden only with the Northern part of Jutland as a base. More here

    2) Do you play R:TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?

Only singleplayer. I tried to play online once.. My computer was almost eaten by several virus..

    3) What's your favorite faction and why?

Unmodded it is the Brutii. They have superb economy and a great starting point. I like to conquer Greece
In Europa Barbarum it's the Romans. I love their Senatal roles, ancient Latin and all round nice units.

In Chivalry it's a tie between Pisa, Aragon and Denmark. Mainly because of their unique units.

    4) How long have you been playing this game?

    Since 2004. Wow that's a long time.

    5) Who's your favorite Ancient military commander and why? (you can also mention a Medieval commander if you prefer)

Ancient? Bubub, I'm not that much into ancient warfare actually. But perhaps this fellow:

    6) What else do you want the Forumers to know about you?

    1) I just feel Lucius Cornelius Sulla was a guy with brass ones. He was born in poverty but worked his way up the social ladder to eventually become consul. He captured king Jugharta of Numidia, helped defeat the Germans, proved to be a great general in the social wars and the war with Mithridates IV. He was the first roman to establish a treaty with the Partians and was dictator of Rome for 5 years. I don't peticulary admire him as a moral man but you just got to give him his props.

    2) Only single player so far. Just stared playing vanilla again after three completed campaigns of RTR Gold.

    3) Romans al the way, that's the reason I started to play total war games to kick ass with the Romans and built my own roman empire.

    4) Started Januari 2005 4 vanilla campaigns, 3 or 4 RTR campaigns,4 MTWII campaigns and just started another Julii campaign.

    5) Scippio Africanus(ok, got to admire Hannibal too)
Sulla, especialy his victories at Chaeronea en Orchomenus and the battle of the Colline gates.
    Julius Ceasar
    Michiel de Ruyter

    6) Proud to be Dutch.
No greater friend, no worse enemy

    1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?

It's from one of my favourite comedies: Kids in the Hall's Brain Candy

    2) Do you play R:TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?

Single-player. I love both the campaign AND the battles. I might dabble in online eventually, but I want to finish a few more single-player campaigns first.

    3) What's your favorite faction and why?

I haven't tried all that many, but I like the Scipii. The Temple of Vulcan gives some decent equipment and experience bonuses, and the Deceres can't be beat on the waves! And once you have naval superiority, the Scipii position is quite strong.

    4) How long have you been playing this game?

I've only been playing Vanilla RTW for about 3 months, but I've been playing the Total War franchise since Shogun came out in 2000. Once I finish a few more campaigns, I'm going to play BI, then EB. I don't have enough machine for M2TW -- besides which, RTW is great!

    5) Who's your favorite Ancient military commander and why? (you can also mention a Medieval commander if you prefer)

That's a tough one. There are many good ones to choose from, but I'd have to say Fabius Maximus. He recognised the effectiveness of his plan despite political and popular dissention. He even personally rescued his staunchest rival when the guy went and did exactly what Fabius told him not to do.

    Among medićval commanders, easy: Saladin.
    1) He studied hard and applied his knowledge. He earned everything he had.
    2) He was ambitious, but patient.
    3) He was respectful, honourable and admirable, but was able to exercise severity and ruthlessness when he needed to.
    4) He knew how to handle politics as well as war.
    5) The many fables about him are inspirational.

This is a subjective statement, obviously, but in my opinion Saladin was one of the wisest military leaders in history, with the likes of to Sun Zi and Fabius.

    6) What else do you want the Forumers to know about you?

Wel, I'm a Canadian who's currently teaching English in Taiwan. I came to TW Center because I was looking for help with a M:TW freezing issue on my new computer, and I'm a bit of a pedant who likes to get into lightly heated discussions =)

    1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?

Actually, I misspelled "maugan_ra" . It's an often embarressing hangover from my Warhammer 40,000 days.

    2) Do you play R:TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?

Single. Human players exploit things too much - as if an army of 20 urban cohorts is ever going to happen in single-player.

    3) What's your favorite faction and why?

    Carthage. Underdog, I guess.

    4) How long have you been playing this game?

Bout two years, on and off.

    5) Who's your favorite Ancient military commander and why? (you can also mention a Medieval commander if you prefer)

Hannibal was a clever-clogs, but I don't really 'like' any of them.

    6) What else do you want the Forumers to know about you?

I'm an artist. Thinking about how to use video-gaming as a fine art medium

    1. Crows are misunderstood creatures and have poor reputation. They are among the most intelligent of all birds, and also one of the most entertaining to have around the house =)

Also, the Vikings (my ancestors) considered them a harbinger of battles to come.

    2. I used to play Rome online and in single-player, but since having a baby, only in single-player. (Can't hit that pause button in MP when something comes up unexpectedly.)

    3. I always liked the Egyptians back in Medieval : Total War, but now it is Rome, usually the Julii. The Romans revolutionized warfare at the time, and created a lot of the world we live in. Their legions were made from some of the toughest men around, and made that way through training and disipline. The common man, did not rise to the occasion, but defaulted to his highest level of training. This is why a military composed on "common citizens" conquered much of the known world.

    4. Since Shogun.

    5. Here is one I'll bet nobody has mentioned yet; Quintus Fabius Maximus. This man was two-thousand years ahead of his time, waging a modern war against his contemporary opponent. Using an inferior force to bamboozle one of the greatest military leaders of all time. People call Hannibal the genius because he could win great battles. This man was a genius who could deprive his opponent of the ability to do so.

    6. If anybody wants to chat, send me a PM =)

4)If memory serves me right it hase been about a year and a half.

5)Hannibal Barca and Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus.Hannibal because he was one of the greatest strategists of all time and was one of the few who brought Rome to its knees.Scipio because he was one of the Few Who could best Hannibal in battle and in strategies and got the agnomen of Africanus which means The Roman Hannibal.

6)I daydream and play video games alot and love to read.I will read anything if It catches my imagination.
