    Default Hi Newb here

I have been playing this game loving it. I come on to get hints and tips on ceritan factions but everyone is talking about mods.. Are their any mods I should get? I want to keep everything the same just maybe more realistic diplomacy or a total game update.

    Thanks

I actually just have the 1.2 patch, which is a must imo. Well, I also have the Ultamate AI mod, which is ALSO a must in my opinion. I just think of the UAI mod as a patch. It makes diplomacy helpfull and worthwhile, as opposed to tedious and useless. I hear a lot of good things about Stainless Steel, but don't know much about it. But yeah, we really don't talk about mods TOO much, but whatever. Hope you enjoy your stay here

Official Webside is a good place.

About mods... everyone will give you different advises. Some do prefer large mods, some do prefer small mods. I myself do never start a new game without BBB and Zeph's Eastern Princesses Mod.

Just have a look into the download area or into the Mod threats. Have a look want does interest you, rebalanced units, new factions, new graphics, whatever. (Or perhaps you prefer to use no mod. ) Start with only one mod, test it, then another... and when you begin to have a feeling for this you can start to combine your favorite mods. (At least I would advice you so. )

Well, ALL the info you need to know is provided in the above links. And if you have any mods or 1.1 already installed you your game, you have to delete it all, including M2, and re-install it and then dl the 1.2 patch. Oh, as for the mods, you have to view the instructions on putting them in certain locations and whatnot for each one of them to get them to work. I find it pretty complicated at times, but it's pretty simple once you get a feel for things

honestly, i like my medieval 2 like i like my women, vanilla.

or wait... no, actually slutty is how i like my women... slutty and drunk.

the point is you don't really NEED any mods. none of them revolutionize the gameplay to any serious extent.

Do you need patch 1.1 for 1.2. Deacon confused me cause he said if you got 1.1 or mods installed you have to uninstall M2TW so you can install 1.2.

oh, sorry man.... didn't mean to confuse anyone. I know for a fact that if you have any mods, then you need to reinstall M2... not sure if that's the same if you have 1.1 already though. Let me look into it............

Oh man, installed the 1.2 patch! Amazing, new commentary, on my first try I got france to be my vassal which don't quite know what the hell that does. It's amazing. I will hold off on Patches. Wanna win every faction on hard first!

I found out that you can install over 1.1 but it is recommended that you have a clean installation of M2TW to install patch 1.2.

Personally I would suggest Deus Lo Vult - fantastic mod that drastically increases the quality of gameplay, the sense of being in the Medieval period, and all sorts of other improvements. I also tend to change a few minor bits of scripting myself as well - it's only very simple stuff but it can change things significantly. As for Pat saying no current mods change gameplay... well I personally couldnt disagree more!

As for what the patch fixes, three MAJOR bugs (Passive AI, Shield bug and 2Hander bug), plus a load of minor ones and significantly improves the AI.

    Just my tuppence.

    (edit for spelling)

the main gameplay difference is the way you have to pay extra cash for deploying armies outside of your settlements. i actually didn't care for the mechanic.

theres alot of other changes as well, but thats the one the really sets it apart from other mods. theres a lot of stat changes and other feature as well. (stuff like titles, added units, bigger campaign map, and so forth)

I would only recommend mods that increase melee length.

Like darth vader's mod, medieval classic, road to jerusalem...

otherwise the battles suck if melees last two seconds.

1.2 fixes some bugs and diplomacy. Must have for sure. Infact, if you decide to use the Stainless Steel mod I am about to recommend then it is a requirement.

NOTE - Make sure that your installation of 1.2 takes at least 10 minutes. You will probably think its frozen some, but just let it go for a while. Sometimes it installs really fast but doesnt work and it wont let you know that it failed its installation.

This is the forum for Stainless Steel

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=314

And here is where you can download 3.2, the latest version.

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=96999

The 2nd link, which is for the download, is a stand alone version of it so it is the only download you need of the mod. Just download and install. You should be good from here, but if you have any errors just post in the first link i typed, very helpful community.

If you ask people for mod advices, you will receive a whole load of suggestions. It all depends upon your liking. I myself play 4 mods

The Long Road - for new units and AOR style recruiting.

Stainless Steel - because you can play as the Templars and people say it's really good.

Darth Mod - because the battles last WAY longer

Portvcale - because of new factions. + Templars
