    Default Scratches on LCD

I have some small, fairly shallow scratches on my 19" widescreen desktop monitor, in the bottom left hand corner. They only seem to show up when backlit by a lighter color (white, cream, yellow, etc.) and it's driving me loco. Aside from Film replacement or something otherwise ridiculously expensive what can I do to fix it? Someone told me clear nailpolish, but I'm not just going to take nailpolish to my $200 monitor without knowing for sure it will work.

Any ideas, or proven techniques that could help me out?

Take this with a grain of salt until confirmed by another member, but in theory something strong, such as nailpolish, should eat away at the top layer and smooth the surface; however I haven't tried this myself so I can't vouch that the monitor won't blow up or something equally 'useful' ~

I was googling for this the other day because I had a little scratch on my Zen V, I found a link showing how a guy removed scratches from his iPod's screen and body with something called Brasso. Its basically metal polish (probably for cars or something), which is known for filling up the scratch so that it doesnt show anymore. Maybe metal polish will work on a PC screen too.

Yeah I definitely wasn't going to try the nailpolish one without talking to someone who'd done it

But I'll look into the Brasso stuff
