    Default Most Decisve Battle?

Me (Romans) vs the Gauls at or near Lungnum Gauls have 5 armies about 80000 men in real life vs my men 11900 [ I add zeroes to the real number of men cuz it just feels epic ]

    Discription:
Gauls rush me and repeatly do suicide charges i repell all but one, led by their faction leader?! Anyway, the last charge they all had about 80 to 100 men leftin each unit, they charged with 4 units, all of them fresh. They broke through my leigonary lines and my general tried to rally them, he got picked off by a volley, lol
    Gaulish Impact:
Although my battle was a total loss it severely damaged the gaulish armies in the north, in fact is was completely shatterd and in total dissaray, not to mention a dead faction leader!
Roman Impact: loss of the 2nd Leigon (75% destroyed) Finished off mostly during retreat to Massilia. But the 1st and 2nd Leigon got folded and now the drive has resumed i am only a about 5 miles away from Lungdum and my revenge will soon be complete!

Actually if you want to calculate SPQR numbers its 1 man ingame = 3 in real life so a Legion would = JUST OVER 5000 men if built historically right in the game. :-)

A comprehensive defeat at the hands of the Selucids in an ongoing game of RTR.

The Selucids had practically defeated my allies the Potolemics and I decided to land a full force and retake Alexandria and the other cities on the Nile. This I duly did and then made the fateful decision of invading Palestine and took all the way up to Jerusalem with an eye for Anthoich.

I marched out of Jerusalem, trumpets blaring, and was about to engage yet another army of inferior troops which turned out to be a mix of imitation legions, elephants and extra heavy cavalry.

The scene is set. My general is 6 star, the enmy is five star. A battle between superious commanders. My legions reinforced and amalgamated to full strength with two units of greek archers and a couple of artillery to use against the elephants. the Artillary and archers were to the fore on a hill. My legions in line with reinforced flanks. I decided to keep the cavalry on the far and slightly stronger left. The enemy draws up. Its pike in the centre with skirmishers in front. To the left legions, elephants and heavy cavaly.

Trumpets sounded the beginning and I ordered the archers and artillary to free fire. The entire Selucid army moves forward at the run. Ny arrows fall on armoured pike to little effect. My artillary fires to the last moment and I am forced to rush the centre legions forward to prevent their being engaged.

The enemy legions advance to fire range and the customary exchange begins followed by contact on the left. The enemy elephants amid the carnage and butchery. My legions are ordered off guard mode and a reserve cohort has to be committed. The line is buckling thrown back by the weight of the enemy elephants. My cavalry is sent to sweep round the flank but the enemy cavalry is trying to do the same and a mounted melee ensues. The odds are bad as Roman cavalry are out matched by the Selucid heavies.

The centre is holding and the artillary has been redeployed to face the left flank and begins to fire on the enemy, afew good romans no doubt also. The last reserves had been ordered to redeploy, at the run, behind the left flank.

Before they are in place one of the enemy elephants is sent mad by the fire attacks of the artillery and stampedes right through my line. the left begins to crumble and breaks. The cavalry melee has also been lost and these units join a general rout. The enmy cavalry makes for the artillery and despite being blown and fired at several times by the artillery they make contact and sweep them aside. Shouts from the centre show that the rout is spreading and the enmy still have several units of uncommitted troops.

The decision is taken and the general is dragged from the field - dreams of imperial glory are cast aside in the haste to escape.

The centre routs and the battle is lost. All of the gains in Egypt slowly fall either through rebellion or after being transferred back to my ally are undefended. The Polemics dynasty falls. Worse still the army is evacuated by sea and harassed until defeat off the Greek mainland and a wattery grave.

    Best battle ever.
