Welcome to my new AAR! I have a good feeling about this one, I might just be able to finish it.The House Rules will be the same as my old Ararat In Exile AAR for Chivalry, with the exception that I will be fighting all battles. This is due to the fact that I am playing SV 2.1 Late Era which is extremely difficult for Armenia being surrounded and crippled by three powerful empires (Ottomans, Mamlukes, Ilkhanate).
Introduction
The year is 1311. The Armenian people are in a crisis (as if they always don't have one...
). Armenia Proper has just fallen once again to barbaric odar (Armenian word for Non-Armenian). The Georgians, Byzantines, Zakarians, Orbelians, and finally the Mongols have fought for Armenia, and now it seems as if it will never come out of foreign control. However, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia has thrived for over two centuries since its founding in 1071 by Philaretos Brachemios and its independence in 1080 by Prince Rhoupen. The tiny Christian state grew and grew until it reached its peak under Levon the Magnificent in 1216. With king Hetum I's alliance with Mongke Khan of Mongolia, it seemed as if the Mamluke threat to Armenia would falter. This was not the case, however. With the Mongolian defeat and their subsequent conversion to Islam, Armenia faced major wars and battles until the Mongols occupied the majority of Cilicia just a few years ago. However, the brave Tagavor Oshin rose up in defiance and annihilated the Mongol presence and freed Cilicia from the yoke of servitude. However, the Mamluke threat still looms to the South, and the Ottomans are relentlessly expanding in the West, and it appears as if once again, Armenia will be choked by enemies and will fall... Only a brave and wise king can let Armenia rise, and keep the dream alive that Armenians will once again own Armenia and will avoid a future catastrophy which will break the power of the Armenian race permanently...
