Default How do you implement new chariot skins?

I've recoloured the amazon chariot to scythian colours and named it differently, scythian_chariot_amazon I think, to try and get the game to use it for scythia. No luck unfortunately. Any help? What text files do I need to edit and what bit?

chariot skins are tied to the cas file as a memory and drawn upon by virtue of their name and position.

You have to add a a crew, and a charot model in the dmb file

then you have go to edu, find there an existing chariot unit, copy paste and change the mount and the soldier to your unit

    Busy!!!

You are talking about the actual chariot(descr_mount) and not the riders, right? If so, I`m not sure if this is the only way, but what I did to make a new gallic chariot to use the new skin was to name the skin and model similar AND include the skin in a pak file. I used a mod_1.pak. Only after I packed it did the game started to load the new skin. Before that, no matter what I did(like renaming both model and skin to something really different), it still loaded the vanilla skin. AFAIK only the model(.cas file) is mentioned in a text file(descr_mount) and not the texture.

Ok, so how do I tie the existing model to the new skin, masterofnone?

You must use the same filename for the texture (so you will have two filenames of the same name) and keep its *relative* subfolder structure to the cas file.

EDIT: No, that's rubbish - I was wrong. The texture and cas file do not work the same way as others. I cannot see a way to have two textures tied to a chariot cas file without getting a modeller to alter it. I may be wrong. I'm not a modeller. Packing seems to have no effect either, for although the cas location may be altered the game will always look for its texture under the same name and in the same location (packed or unpacked, and if unpacked the packed one will override so that's no use for variation).

So basically recolour the texture and keep it the same name? In that case I'm turning it brown to fit with the rebels as well.
