    Default AA and AF

This isn't a thread asking what they are btw..

What AA and AF settings should I use with an X1900 XT on 1280x1024?
I have all other settings on high(large units). And I am NOT going to use adaptive AA, so the grass wont be filtered. Can my card support 4x AA and 16x AF?

And is there anything else I should change to optimise performance?

    Hi Garnier,

i have a X1900Pro (pcie), and set AA 6 and AF 16 in MII with the above res, no problem, with high(est) settings else, but depends naturally also especially on the Cpu (and Ram and Mainboard and Hd, all components have their role regarding performance).

Everyone's computer is different, you can always take 5 minuets to test the settings out for your self. If the game starts to get really laggy, then your frame rate is probably too low and you should lower the settings a little bit.

I would start out with 4xAA and 8XAF, because that's about the minimum setting that will give decent image quality on that resolution.

Then increase the in-game image settings until it becomes too laggy.
If the game still doesn't lag on maximum settings, you can increase AF to 16X and AA to 6X.

Or, alternatively, you can run the procedure in reverse (start with the absolute maximum quality, then reduce until the game becomes fluent).

My CPU I don't think is the greatest, but I don't know. This is my computer:

    AMD Athlon 64 FX-55, 2.6ghz
    2 GB Corsair RAM
    X1900 XT 512mb

y do u have an FX-55 STILL RUNNING AT 2.6???

at least OC it to 2.8 or else u wasted ALOT of money!

the FX is meant to be OCable. its multiplier unlocked and runs a San Diego core. its very stable and packs plenty of power.

if u kicked it up even a little bit u will see quite a differance. i love OCing...

Well, it is like 2 years old, and has been used a lot that whole time, and besides that I haven't added any cooling stuff to it. I would overclock if it was a little simpler, but I've read how to do it, and it's just too complicated to merit all the time I'd have to spend doing it, and the chance that I might do something wrong.
