    Default Idea for version 6.4 setup

    As version 6.4 is to have a Carthaginian force in Taras to replace the Gladiator rebel army, I have a suggestion for making this opening deployment very "interesting". Basically we have the situation for Rome in the aftermath of the Cannae disaster.

    a) Set the start year to 215 BC.
    b) Carthage has Rhegium and an army stationed in that area.
    c) Both Capua and Paestum are controlled by the Roman Rebel faction (Cathagnian allies) with one "Roman syle" army in the field.
    d) Rome has both Messana and Lilybaeum in Sicily, Syracuse is Greek controlled. Rome also holds Caralis in Sardinia.
    e) In Spain, Rome has Tarraco and Carthage its usual starting provinces.
    f) Rome's starting forces are the current 2 armies in Italy with another army in Spain. Also all the first level roads are considered built in Italy south of the Po river.

    This approach would make for an intense starting game for the Roman player; it might actually get the SPQR faction to physically conquer some areas from the rebels. I think it might be a good fit for this mod.

    Well currently in 6.4 it is VERY hard to fight hannible with the legions you start with. I think you should wait and see. What you suggest would be too hard and the senate will not help in the south like it does in the north. lol I suggest trying what I setup as being totally historical isnt always possible in RTW for Gamplay reasons.

    Well Lt your reply just pointed out a fatal flaw in my scenario, a passive Senate. For the Romans to hold their own in Italy the SPQR has to be actively engaged against the southern front. If they don't show up, then Rome faces not only the Carthaginian/Rebel combination but also the inevitable Gaul push in the North; a 2 front war with a 1 front army!

    Just pigeon hole my last idea, I'll wait for the 6.4 roll out before I have anymore brain storms.

    I add different suggestion this time.

    Spies and killers. I propose to remove them, I find them unneccesary in the gamE. Their importance in game is much ahistorical, besides AI do not use them well against human player.
    For example, Gauls was producing and sending them to Massilia every turn and had to kill them which was like never ending.
    Finally it just consumed my time for battles and AI money to build armies...

    Diplomats, and borders towers and perhaps reconaissance forces are really enough.

    Not true the AI was killing my generals all the time, atleast the ones that didnt have anti traits to stop it. Infact the AI uses them more than the player. Spies are usually in all my cities. lol SPQR had them removed along time ago, you were not there then.

    Basically Each Legion of Mine has 1 Assassin and 1-2 Spies. This helps spot assassins and protects the general. All this makes the cost of a legion even more. ;-)

    LT speaks the truth as per usual, i once had a screenshot (cant find it atm..),of the whole of the path leading up through the mountains around Darantasia filled with blood-crazy Gemanic assassins-- my ggenrals stood no chance... >< lol

    cant be helped in SPQR AI spams them for a period in the game usually mid-mid late for me and u just hav to deal with it by creating loads of ur own assassins or face having a one man army lol!!

    Er...excuse me but where can I find SPQR 6.4? My version is still 6.35 and I didn't see where to download 6.4 and I can't even see any info about 6.4. could anyone give me a link?

    In my current campaign I had 2 generals disappear. Didnt have the money at the time to have assassins in the legion.

    Thanks you very much lt1946 ! I hoppe senate will send reinforcement and we could have allied for battle and that you could add-on more light on the mod... I think its too dark... This mod need more light on skin no ? If you need more *.mp3 files i can send them to you.

    Depends on your Graphics settings. You can adjust it for games etc. You probably have it set for photos then Games will be real dark.

    Another little question:
    Will 6.4 the last version? i think i have read this anywhere here...
    Cuz i just don't wanna restart my campaigns everytime a new version comes out =)

    Let's hope not!
    I'm sure lt1956 can come out with much more improvements in the future!

    Anyway, many of us have a campaign already going, and we could be unwilling to restart. Maybe lt1956 could just release a 6.4 patch lite: a patch that modifies costs, building times, and all the other things that are savegame-compatible, while leaving untouched the things the invalidate the save-games. A mini-patch of sorts.
    We will install the full patch later, when we are ready to begin a new campaign.

    When a new version of SQPR is announced just quit your curent campaign, delete the save game and just wait in patience till it becomes available for download. Anytime, an new version of SQPR means an even nicer RTW.

    Yes it is the last Version. Really 6.3 should have been. But I added some nice touches to finish up SPQR. Things have to end they cant go on for ever. Alot of ground has been covered and just like a Game released to the public shouldnt be worked on for ever. There comes a time when the Mod or Game becomes about as perfect as you can get.

    SPQR has been worked on for years now since RTW was released. While I WILL still be around to protect SPQR interest, I have no intention of updating constantly, for one usually updates mess up campaign saves and campaigns can take a long time in SPQR.

    I wish to finish a campaign that is bug free (within reason) that is about as perfect as I can get for gameplay, without the never ending story of modding.

    Infact the only reason I added a patch for 6.2 was stumbling across the fix that made Cavalry fight better and missile units to be effective again. That was the MAIN reason. WHat I did from there is add some odds and ends to make the patch the fullest, example is Mercs Gloss files and some traits and triggers. 6.35 is way smaller than 6.4 SO I have been trying to add as much as possible to this patch to round it out so to speak.
