Please Help

I have a problem. I have Rome Total War: Gold Edition and followed all the instructions to install Platinum 1.6 for it. Everything worked well. I did reinstall it once after installing it to the wrong place . But all that aside.

I installed it, following all the instructions on how to do it. It worked fine, it got to the main menu ect. But I cant start any battles or campaigns without it quitting the game.

Please help, I really want to play this mod!!!!

Platinum 1.6 is an old version and AFAIK the team doesn't support it anymore. You will have to download the last version (1.8 I believe).

OK thanks, I only installed it yesterday.

Do I just install 1.8 the same way i installed 1.6? And do i have to uninstall 1.6 before i install 1.8?

Also did you follow the "delete map.rwn" files step. That sounds exactly like your problem.

To explain, this needs to be deleted so that RTR (or any mod) can create a new map.rwn when you start a campaign. Some mods have an a small .bat program that automatically does it for you. I think RTR PE 1.8 does but I'm not sure.

I will download 1.8, if that fails i will look up the map problem.

There are 99.9% chances that your problem is because you have not deleted that file. There is a guide in my sig that details this.
EDIT: deleting that file is a must no matter what version of RTRPE you have.

The small .bat file you mention is the one I wrote to automatically delete the map.rwm file. I created it for RTR Platinum, but I have seen it used by several other mods now too. Its quite simple and I encourage other mods to use it if they wish, or create something similar. RTRPE v1.8, and the new soon to be released v1.9, uses the small batch file. Its not changed much since i first wrote it.
